Why oh why do I set up too early of a flight? Maybe it has something to do with money? Anywho, after Kelli got off work we drove to Charlotte where we spent a dreadful night at an awful motel in the airport. I got it thru Priceline and it had free shuttle (or so I thought) Upon entering the room it stunk of body odor OMG. I am not putting down any race or ethnic origin but I couldn't go upfront and complain because I didn't want to hurt their feelings. ( Why am I so dang nice?) Their culture doesn't use deodorant but the more americanized do. Anyway it was so late I hit the sack with a wake up call at 4:15 AM!!! The shuttle didn't leave that early plus they were charging $3/day so I just drove on over to the airport. Oh well, at least I didn't have to drive 1 1/2 hrs to the airport.
No problems with Delta smooth flight into Atlanta with a long layover on to St Juan (long layover) where we hopped on a little bity Cessna that held only 9 people. We had a lady pilot (cool) and the flight was very easy. Going out the door to catch a taxi there was Carlton waiting on me to take me to the marina. I wasn't expecting that but I was tickled . $10/pp (little expensive) Everyone was waiting on me as they wanted to move out of the harbor and eat supper. All of a sudden I heard my name , huh? It turned out to be Johnique. She was first mate on my cruise with TW in St Martin 5 yrs ago. She was going to be on my cruise!! She has been promoted and helps train new people and observe and help. She was only going to be with us thru Wed. but she had already told the crew and cruisers all about me. In 2 secs we were off and ready for our adventure.
The food was delicious prepared by Tina (1st mate) and the Captain, Andreas. He looked like Pierce Bronson with the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. Oh this was going to be heaven.!! Tina and Kelli quickly became friends . I had tried to warn Kelli about the size of the room and the bathroom. Even with the hatches open it was too hot for me so I headed out for the trampoline at the front of the boat. With a sheet under me and a pillow under my head I looked up at the stars, sighed , and let the stress of the past few months go.
