Dimples is on to what I consider a dream vacation.

I would also like to visit Italy and go to all the designer outlets -- not that I would purchase anything, but just visit to see if there are REAL bargains there.
    hope this info helps,

There are ever so many interesting places I’d love to take in, but won’t live long enough to do.

I've not experienced the British Isles, but have had a small taste of most of FREE Europe between Gibraltar and Copenhagen.

Visited momentarily in areas from Germany down to Malta. A most impressive region was from Chamonix Valley and Mont-blanc in France to the Italy border.

Have made brief stops at Athens, the Greek Islands and Istanbul.

The Aleutian Islands was unique, as was the Azores.

If I live long enough, I’d really like to spend a month in that region of Spain to the east of Madrid, above Portugal... but before I do that, I feel oblicated to sample some small flavor of this county's mountainous region before taking in any more from outside our borders.

For many months I’ve contemplated a tour of Teton and Glacier National Parks. Well it won’t stop with that. Finally, on or about 18 August, I expect to journey to Mount Rushmore, where I’ll commence a 6000 mile jaunt encompassing in small part, Teton and Glacier National Parks, the Olympic Peninsula, Columbia Gorge, Oregon lighthouses, San Francisco and Monterey. Then we'll head back via Yosemite, Sequoia NPs. If still up to it, we’ll run to Zion, Arches, Grand Canyon and Mesa Verde National Parks with our sightseeing ending at Colorado Springs.

Getting to our tour and returning will add an additional 3000 miles but that is only a necessary evil.

        Go and not return

After working for Safeway for 36 years my dream vacation would be to go almost anywhere and not have to return to work. Everytime I return, I end up having to do the work in my job that wasn't done while I was gone. This is 5 weeks a year of catch-up. Just once I'd like to go somewhere and come back without going backwards to catch up. I guess I will and it will be called retirement (when my son finishes school which means at least 2 more years and if college bound 6 or 7 more years.
Our best vacations besides when the kids were little have been combination cruise/timeshare combined. I'm looking forward now to Yellowstone and eventually seeing a good part of the Eastern USA. Been there and done that in the Western States. Hawaii has been seen by us a good 10 times or more.
The wife wants to go to Europe, which we will for about 6 weeks once we retire but I would first like to see the Eastern USA.

I live to vacation and vacation to live.
