  • My trip to Nashville -Arrival day

    All I can say it was one super duper trip!! We arrived on Mother's Day May 10th.Went to Hertz where we were supposed to get a compact but ended up with a GM HRT ? Sorta looks like a PT Cruiser but GM's version. In & out & on our way!! Kelli just had to stop at the Duke's of Hazzard Museum just up from the resort. Since it was early we spent a lot of time there and the Willie Nelson Museum. Room was ready and they had put me in 2315 ground level close to the rec building per my request. Nice 2BR condo altho I never did find the egg turner. A lot of people say it's dated but I wonder if those same people change their furnishings every 5 years? It was quite adequate and so happy to just be away from home celebrating mother's day with Kelli. We went to Santa Fe for dinner and it was good.

    Went to the welcome meeting at the Texas Troubadour where we learned about the tours and saw some entertainment. Tootsie's took us over and John Beardsley who works at the resort got on and I said , who do you think you are? Elvis? Little did I know!!

    Monday== a day of surprises!!

    We slept in and had lunch at Monell's ( my fav) Even tho I was meeting tuggers on Wed I wanted to try the meatloaf & chick & dumps. They also had tuns and tuns of vegetables. I was a happy camper!! We looked up and sitting across from me was William Lee Golden!!! He is the long white haired dude from the Oak Ridge Boys and his family. We had a wonderful time discussing his career and he grabbed our tickets and paid for our lunch and then we went outside and took pics!! Now is that the way to star a trip or what? !!

    He gave me directions to the Hall of Fame where we spent most of the day. It takes us sev hours to go thru there. That night we went to the Troubadore Theater and saw Elvis, starring John Beardsly, DUH!! as I put 2 & 2 together. We got a good laugh at that.

      Tues/Nash Trash & downtown

      Up early to meet Nash Trash tours. The Big Pink Bus . Must reserve early as it will sell out!! You pick it up at the farmers market which was a lot of fun in itself. I couldve brought back a ton of plants but thankfully I had no way to take them home. The tour was pretty funny and is rated the #1 attraction in Nashville. It was more or less a show on wheels not a tour. They had a trivia contest which of course I won. Everyone was amazed that I was answering before she finished the questions. I guess it wasn't as much fun for everyone but no one else knew it anyway. The girls said that they had never had anyone who knew as much about country music as I did. In retrospect I didn't enjoy the tour as much as I thought I would because I didn't learn much and the slapstick was getting a little old after 2 hrs but I would still recommend it.

      After the tour we ate at the farmers market then went to the bars downtown. There is some absolute talented people all over Nashville just chasing their dreams. After the bars we headed to the Tin Roof to see Jeff Bates. He was great as usual. This was a benefit for the leukemia & lymphoma society so not only did we have a great time we helped a great cause. Can you say full day?

      More to come. Hope you are enjoying my adventures. shaggy
