For those of you willing to "roll the dice" Hotwire has some fabulous prices on Rental cars right now.

I just booked 2 weeks on 2 islands in Hawaii for 246.00 ALL IN (12 days) for midsize on both islands. First 2 weeks June.

Oahu 11.95 per day midsize

BI 14.95 per day midsize

I know some of you have car rental agency preferences-but if you don't-check it out.

I'm pretty happy right now.

Thanks for the tip. I just booked a mid size in Las Vegas for $6.95 per day. Saved 50% over my previously booked economy car which was $17 per day.

I Saved With Hotwire Too

I used Hotwire for the first time on 12/12/2009 to 12/19/2009. You do not know which Rental Company until you pay by credit card. The sale is final. You must pay when you make the reservation. But everything worked out fine. No problems.

Budget did try to get me to upgrade to a SUV with leather for $30 extra per day.

We are going to the Big Island from 1/23/2010 until 2/4/2010 and then to see our son and his family in Sacramento from 2/5/2010 to 2/8/2010.

$13.95 Rental days: 13 Subtotal: $181.35

Tax recovery charges and fees: $83.61

Total Alamo/Hotwire Total.......................$264.96

I Had Reservations For Fort Myers and The Big Island.

I had reservations for Fort Myers and the Big Island from the Costco Web site with their discounts. I have found that Costco Discount was the best I could find in the past.

The day price for Sacramento was from Orbitz.

Thanks Walt...I just looked around and I go the best rates for St Thomas by going directly to the car rental sites, they matched what was on hotwire....and were cheaper then Kayak.

Hotwire is kind of a moving target. Last night, rates in the BI for my dates were 26-35 dollars for the lesser categories. Today, WAY better. Also, click on a square even if you don't like the price-sometimes it comes up less...like the Oahu rates were actually showing at 14.95 or so-it wasn't until you clicked in-it would say Oh-it's less, we can give you 11.95.

Just an FYI for future "clickers"

You are not "committed" until you give them your credit card number and click the "buy" button. I just saved $200.00 on a full size car rental in Kona for May 14-28! I had previously reserved thru Alamo - the new reservation thru Hot Wire is with National. StressCadet, many thanks for the info.

You guys are killing me!
I am happy for all that got deals.
Even thru Hotwire the rate is $400 for 9 days.
\The kicker is we really need a car in STT as our resort is rather isolated, u would have to cab it everywhere and the cabs charge per person, a REAL rip-off.

I just need to focus....I will be in paradise, I will be in Paradise, I will be in paradise...

Nope. About 4 screens to go through and then a final review before the "big click"

Check periodically through the day...BI is up again tonight-not awful but more than I paid...which means it will probably be less too...but I'm good with what I paid.

Booked last night with Hotwire for Orlando. Total cost for a full size for 18 days from Dollar was $623. This was less than we had booked with priceline.
