I have been checking Spirit every day for 6 weeks.....they are not selling that cdate yet....they said early May, but when I saw $353....I jumped on it!!!

Believe it or not if you can catch it on the day Spirit starts selling you can get tickets for $270 all taxes in. Luck has a lot to do with it of coarse.

Do you book your own flights online with it, or do you call the airline and give them the fare code?

ExpertFlyer is strictly a research and development tool. I use it mostly for mileage running, but do book our leisure travel based on the information there. I always book my travel on the airline web site, as there are incentives to do so, as well as disincentives (fees) to call instead.

Although EF has availability features, I tend to use ITA to work routings and seat availability. It is codeable to drill down to specific fares, airlines and routings, besides the usual parameters.

While these tools are powerful, it's the time spent learning to use them and doing the research which pays off. In the beginning it takes seemingly forever, but over time the process becomes quite fast, as one learns more.

I'd say 80% of the time, one can find exactly what they want on any of the well-known public booking engines; it's that other 20% that we bargain hunters and mileage runners look for
