  • San Jose/Oakland/San Francisco to Atlanta

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are planning a trip to the Atlanta area in October to see our daughter/grandaughter but so far the flights end up close to $500 each. Anyone know of another airport to fly into or any other suggestions?

Would you consider Jet Blue. You would have to fly into JFK then South to Jacksonville, FL.

    Not exactly convenient.
    Flying at MACH4 +

Try SFO to SAV (Savannah) I'm seeing flights in the 300's which is in my opinion reasonable.

      Edited to Add:

using 10/9 to 10/16...I see 301.00 with one stop. Delta, United, American. Pick your favorite

We did think about it but it is a long drive. Does anyone know of any other airports to fly into?

Augusta, Ga (AGS) small airport...about a 2 hour drive to Atlanta. When you say Atlanta area..what is the name of the city? Running about 381.00.

My family usually drives from Augusta to Atlanta to catch flights. Your major to major (SFO to ATL) usually yields flights in the 300's. They just did this trip in reverse last week. Dont know why it would be so high ..especially for October.

            Acworth

The city we are going to is Acworth which I believe is about 40 miles north of Atlanta.
I appreciate the help in figuring this out. My daughter is new there and doesn't have a clue as to what is around her. She also doesn't have the internet in her place yet.

Atlanta will be the closest. So, it gets down to how much further than that are you willing to drive? Will the cost of the additional gasoline wipe out any savings you might have? I flew from Oakland to Atlanta last month, but I was using a United ff ticket. I have no idea what the normal price would have been.

Chattanooga, TN is 84 miles..mapquest says 1 hour 26 mns from airport to city of Acworth. Sample flights are 350.00. Delta is still going to have you stop in ATL.

I'm cautiously optimistic that you will find the Atlanta flights in your price range.

                **********

I just checked OAK to ATL and came up with 317.00 (with a stop for 10/9 to 10/16) what are your dates?

Correction 323.00 for those dates. Wed to Wed is 317.00. If you aren't timesharing then Tue to Tue or Wed to Wed usually yields lower fares as well.

We are going for two weeks and can leave the 8th,9th,or 10th but must be back by the 24th. I am starting to find some flights slightly cheaper.
                  Thanks everyone,
