This chain has some wonderful historic properties in Europe, reasonably priced too.
We stayed in this one in Carcassone, France:
Bestwestern.com, the World's Largest Hotel Chain.
when our hosts at the outside-of-town b&b we'd booked in advance never showed up to meet us at the agreed upon time. After wasting 3/4 hr of precious vacation time, we drove into the medieval city and got a really nice room as walk-up guests, and cheaper than the deadbeat b&b. I've liked this chain ever since. -
