I had been trying to get a ticket trans-Atlantic for a family member at the last minute for summer travel to Europe, never an easy thing, and especially not this summer! I had been striking out for the past two weeks with a broad range of dates for all SkyTeam carriers. There was just nothing availible across the pond for 50K miles.
Last night I lucked out. Delta had a very good choice of dates. The trans-Atlantic segment on all of them was CO between Newark and Amsterdam. Apparently a fair number of seats on this route must have been dumped into the system. Perhaps it is a new route or increased service on an existing route, but whatever it is it probably will not last long before they are all booked.
All US SkyTeam carrier - DL, NW, and CO - should have access to these seats while they last.
