Here's a hotel deal I got:

My husband needed to stay overnight in Miami due to American Airlines plane connections. All close by Miami and Miami Int'l were $135+ or +$95 for a barely 2 star.

Chicago Midway Marriott - Great Deal on Priceline

I had to go to Chicago last Sunday to give a talk at a company and stayed at a very nice/decent Marriott near the Midway Airport.

The others in my group paid $179/nt there on the Marriott website.

I paid $83 ($66 + $17 tax).

This location is 5 blocks to Lincoln Rd and 1 block from Ocean drive and is directly behind the Versace mansion, Parking is $37 a night but there is a lot on 12th st that charges $20 for hotel guests. What's funny is bidding for travel does not have this hotel on there hotel list yet.

I Hate to say this but I was not trying to win this, I was just getting a run or two in before I bid. I had thought I put a check in box 6 which is Lake Harmony and I knew there was no 3 star there. My Eyes are not what they used to be like . I put the check in box 7 and not 6, I had wanted to send my son to the Tannersville area or by the Strousburg area which are 3 stars.

I just booked the Marriott Convention Center in New Orleansfor one night before an up-coming cruise for $60.00 (plus taxes, etc.). The Marriott quoted me $259.00 for the same night (and they were not including taxes either).

I don't mean to cloud this thread, but the last two Internet discount reservations I made, last month, got us the same two motels at the same exit south of Atlanta that we used to book way back before the Internet.

Hotwire got us a Day's Inn that we used to book as a Fairfield Inn and Expedia got us the Red Roof Inn we used to book through Red Roof Inn.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

I think the best deals are always on the 4 star hotels. I've experienced getting 2 1/2 star hotels that were exactly the same price that I could have gotten myself--and I would have known in advance where I was going.
