While it is a breaze to book tickets online with UK LCC's like EasyJet and Ryanair and central European LCC's SkyEurope and Wizzair, I did not find that to be the case with Germanwings. Moreover, their taxes and fees (one of which was simply marked ''surcharge'' with no explanation) were about twice those of the other LCC's mentioned.
I was booking tickets to Belgrade, so Germanwings was the only LCC option. When I first tried to book, the fare was 9 euros plus taxes and fees, but after several failed attempts, by the time I was able to get it to go through, the fare had gone up to 21 euros.
On entering the Germanwings site, there is a place to select languages. I selected English, and the next page that came up was in English, but all subsequent pages reverted to German. I was able to muddle through finally, using my high school and college German which I had largely forgotten. On several attempts, I guessed wrong on what I was supposed to do, and had to start over, but when I tried to do so, the destination dropdown would not show anything but the word ''destination''. Even returning to the site several hours later, it did the same thing.
I have enjoyed both booking and flying EasyJet, Ryanair, and SkyEurope, and I am looking forward to my first flight with tickets I have booked on Wizzair, my early experience with Germanwings has not been so positive.
