Coconut Beach Resort Key West Hurricane Season only $10K

My sister is on the BOD of a southeast state Philharmonic Orchestra and all BOD members have to solicit donations for an annual silent auction in January. She hit me up and I gave her the use of any summer week in Williamsburg.

Today she sent me an email from the coordinator which was touting the donation of one of the members. This member has annually donated the use of Coconut Beach Resort Key West 2BR Wk38 which they say they value the use at $3K, I guess they've gotten close to that in the past. This year the member is donating the deed and they're planning on starting the auction at $10K.

Of note, there's an eBay auction for Wk39 ending tomorrow, one bid so far for $499.

I wonder if they'll really get someone bidding $10K at their silent auction for the height of hurricane season. MFs only $936.

They might. Charity auctions are notorious for selling things at more than they're worth. Heck, I buy things for more than they're worth if it's a worthy cause. Try not to, though.

They will also have a lot of bidders with no clue about what the week is worth.
