Last Xmas went to Bluebeards Beach Club, flew USAirways DCA-STT for ~$450ea bought 330 days ahead. This year we've got reservations again partly due to Lawren and her sightings. At 330 days out USAir fares were ~$1400 and they still are today. Cheapest I'd seen before yesterday was $760 on Delta.
Yesterday I saw DCA-SJU for ~$250. 22-29Dec WOW
Kayak still showed Delta at ~$760 as cheapest but Orbitz has a US-Cape Air combination through SJU for $463. Tried to book it and every time I clicked it said the fare had gone up start over. Tried three times.
Called USAir and asked for 4 tix DCA-STT and they quoted $1400. I said, no, book it to SJU then on Cape Air to STT. Took them 30 minutes on the phone to book it. SUCCESS 4 tix at $479ea.
At the same time I was trying to do all this, some friends going with us called and said they'd found a great fare under $500. I said book it NOW, they did on Travelocity and got about $475ea.
Today Kayak shows a $551 fare with US and AA thru SJU, they must not 'see' Cape Air.
I'm a happy camper even if tonyg and Syd don't think so.
