  • Somebody Stop Me ! Bidding on a Euro Timeshare

Well, I'm bidding on another timeshare - a week at the Edinburgh Residence. A floating week with the exception of Christmas, New Year's and the last three weeks in August.
    RTU expires in 2021.

Has anyone stayed there ? Any thoughts on its trading power ?

    Thank you,
    B.

From what I've read it is nice. You are blocked out of the biggest of European vacation time (the last three weeks of August). I would think it would trade nicely, but with what's going on with RCI it may not.

My July beach week is trading no better than a week in Orlando...go figure. If you are buying this as a trade unit I would pass. The fees are high and the Dollar is very weak against the BPS right now and don't forget the VAT is likely not included in the quoted fees.

I'm not gonna stop you after you did so nicely with the Allen House. You might go to: Timesharetalk Forum
and ask the folks that live nearer there.

        Jeanne,

It looks like a very nice place. I know how much you love it there. I say go for it. Good Luck!!!

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Seems you have done a pretty good job of picking TS in the past.

            Why second guess yourself now.

The trading power comment does give one paws or is it pause, would have thought buy to use was the object.

              Hi Beags,
We will be there as of July 6th and feel VERY LUCKY to have gotten this exchange. I will let you know how the resort is. This week we are at Duchally Country Estates.

Would tie in nicely with your London week - the float option is certainly a good one.

I didn't realize that you owned at Allen House too. With the float that would tie in wonderfully and you would be guaranteed two consecutive weeks every year (well, until the lease expires). I do find the fees high, but if you are using then it is not a big deal...trade I would think about it long and hard.

Tie it in to my week 32 in Ireland one year and you have a 3 week European Vacation to die for

Galway Bay Cottages, 3 bedroom week 32. Not the greatest "resort" but it is summer in Ireland and a largge unit.

Re: Trading power - I plan to use it, but there could be a year or years that I cannot, ergo, the trading power is of note, but not the only reason for buying it.

Pat, you're right. I can link this on to my Allen House, week 20 (which I can change subject to availability for an upcharge), so it is very flexible.

I took the overnight sleeper car up to Edinburgh from London once. Let's just say, it was delightful.

I've been seriously thinking about this city for my eventual "one-on-one" trip with Rachel. Unlike London, it's not so spread out, is cooler in the summer, and those hop-hop off buses are really nice. I'm sure she would also love to see the botanical gardens, something my son was totally uninterested in. The Royal Mile is a bit of a walk, but the good thing is there are lots of places to stop and eat or grab tea.

The difficult part is shifting her sleep schedule, which is even a problem here in the U.S. with her insomnia. But I suppose I don't have to shift it too much...she can stay up late and sleep in the morning!

Is the Edinburgh Residence right within walking distance of the Royal Mile? I haven't yet looked at rentals yet or anything.
