From the people I've talked to, however, flying Virgin is like never wanting to land at your destination! Right now they are offering great deals from the cities they fly, starting at just $39 each way. Even with gas prices going through the roof, you can fly across the entire country for less than $150 each way. Snag a fare before they're gone.

If you haven't heard of Virgin America, it's coach prices and first class comfort. Mood lighting, customized entertainment... it's like having your living room in the sky. You can even order food and drinks from the screen at your seat. Don't worry about killing the battery on the laptop - there's a plug at your seat.
ETA the VA site is a little cumbersome but pick your to & from destination and random dates. Once you do you can search backwards and forwards a week at a time. I see the $139 JFK/LAX fare in May.
