Hi all,
This morning I received a phone call stating that I had $500 "credit" for a vacation package from a previous timeshare tour and that it was about to expire. After listening to the offer, I was then transferred to a "manager" who attempted to seal the deal and get me to give him $210 more for the entire package (the package was quite impressive...in the too good to be true category). When I stalled, he then lowered the price to $118. Throughout the conversation, he changed his story several times, from it being credit for a past timeshare tour, to money I had previously put down on a package and forgot to use (ha!). It became clear it was a scam so I told him no, that I would not proceed without investigating his company. He as much as dared me to, saying he would wait on hold for an hour or more if I wanted to do that. When I said I would take him up on his offer, he then reversed his story, saying "You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to turn your business down just like you turned mine down, because I don't choose to do business with people that don't have any faith in our company", and he hung up! After checking on line, this is a new tactic used by this company (which has a lousy reputation, as I figured). They have notified people online and on telephone that they have "won" a trip, but not that they previously received credit for a timeshare tour. Has anyone else encountered this? Beware!
