  • Frequent Flier tickets available to Hawaii

It may be time to take advantage of FF points with the airfares so high and with the amount of last minute availability in timeshares.

We were able to secure four 35k mile (Saver Award) FF tickets on UAL RT LAX/Kona with no red eye flights. We booked on June 28th for flights departing July 13th. We had been monitoring these flights for about two weeks prior to June 28th with the same apparent availability and some different options on the return including red-eye's via SFO.

The UAL FF calendar had most of the days of departure open with FF tickets available. There were about 3 days in July where FF tickets were not available for our departure...one being Saturday July 12th so we are leaving on the 13th instead.

However we could not secure inter-island FF miles on the partner carriers of the majors but Hawaiian did have some available for about 12k RT.

Hawaiian Air also had availability for a bit more at about 40k points RT LAX/Kona.

Just food for thought.....the comparable airfares four our flights on United at the time were at over $1,000 pp.

We were lucky and not sure how long this will last.

Thanks for the info. I've got the date marked to look for our flights for next summer.

I just went in and checked. How were you able to book flights for a July 11 departure? All I'm seeing are flights out to July 3.

Duh, I just realized you must be talking about THIS year. Color me dumb.

When I booked our January trip to HHV on Oahu, I had no problems getting a FF ticket on UAL for 35,000 miles. In fact, they had 3 or 4 iteneraries to choose from at that time. Of course they cancelled the flight I booked a day or two after I booked it. The new flight times weren't as good but I only have one change of plane coming home rather than two. I suppose it all comes out in the wash.
