The simplest explanation is usually the right one. The simplest explanation is that this is MC's doing, if they are the ones identified on the credit card bill.

Yes it is Manhattan Club on the credit card bill.

But it is interesting to note that owner's do not pay a housekeeping fee (and with those MFs they shouldn't have to! ) nor does an exchanger using some company OTHER than RCI.

I love this place as I do manage to learn something new every day.

I know it's been dog's years since we saw the penthouses in II. I wonder if II exchangers get charged? I'm trying to remember who got one here so we can ask.

"I'll take Manhattan Club additional fees for $500" Alex...

I also heard that only RCI exchangers get charged the hospitality fee. I figured it was some sort of perk that RCI gave Manhattan Club when they got mad about the people bragging how easy it was to exchange there with cheap weeks.

When we used a TS in Kent, England last April the front desk person started to mention an extra electricity charge. The manager overheard her and said that wouldn't apply to us but it would for exchangers from RCI.

We were using points from a resort we owned that was directly affiliated with this resort. Our home resort handled the reservations and there was no exchange fee.

I would be interested to know if there our other charges like the 'hospitality charge' at MC that apply to RCI exchangers but not other exchangers.

We just booked two weeks in French Polynesia and the electricity surcharge is $225 per week in addition to the $199 exchange fee.

Good info to know. I'll start using SFX for Manhattan Club. It probably doesn't have a 1 in 4 rule either.

Is it possible that this unit was put in SFX a long time ago before these charges came into being? Honestly, I get sick when I read today in TUG what all the developers are trying to get away with and exchange companies too except a few. They like to nickel and dime us to death until timesharing is more expensive than renting. We ain't buying anymore from a developer or from an owner either and many people may start thinking the same way.

Timesharing has changed so much since we bought our first two and not all for the better. JMHO.

SFX does NOT have any 1 in 4 or similar restrictions at any resort they deal with.

Oh knock it off you two.

The best thing to come out of this was probably the least expected when the post was first made.

TMC ONLY charges those "hospitality fees" to exchangers from RCI.

Thanks Maria for letting us know about the II exchange. Much appreciated.

I seriously doubt that would be the case as a Manhattan Club week would be snapped up immediately whenever it became available. It would never go into inventory.

That is interesting. I talked to somebody in the lobby at the Manhattan Club on July 26th that also got an II exchange into a Penthouse unit.
