(I order exact $500, I wish they have different president mix in the order. Maybe next time.)

The mint is now making a permanent fix to the problem, Jurkowsky said. In the future, credit card purchases will be recorded as cash advances rather than credit card purchases. Credit cards typically do not give reward points for cash advances.

Flyertalk has a VERY active thread about these coin purchases, and no one seems to have had their purchase treated as a cash advance. (Although USBank Flexperks no longer awards points for these purchases.)
Instead, when one buys the coins, there is a statement saying that they are not to be deposited at banks, and that buying the coins means you are promising to comply.
I want to buy some coins to use at the new Aldi's in town (a discount grocer that doesn't take checks or credit cards.)

Originally posted by Jya-NingYes. Thanks to Spence, I did the order, and it took 2 days to get my coins, but took another few days for the item shown on my credit card. Does not look like it treat like cash advance. Don't know if it will count toward mileage. That will be the end of billing cycle. But it will be a very good gift(s) to family kids when I visit China this March. And very good for my kids from tooth fairy.

My latest order of coins arrived in about a week. It seems to have posted to my AMEX SPG card as a regular purchase.
