  • resale companies vs. eBay

    Hi All,

I'm looking at inventory that is advertised online and I see that eBay has much lower resale prices than any of the resale websites I've seen. 4800 pt HGVC at Bay Club going for around $1k for example. Are there any other places to look at inventory that I'm missing besides resale companies and eBay? I'd guess that in this economy a lot of TS are in foreclosure - do those go back to the management company? I was thinking there might be a way to find a good deal on a foreclosure?

    thanks!

Many HOAs, at resorts where the developer is no longer in control, have inventory available for sale.

Generally the HOA or developer will have higher prices than anywhere else.

Thanks for input, it seems like eBay is going to be my best bet so I'll just keep watching until what I want at the price I want comes along. Any thoughts on if time of year makes any difference in price? It would seem like prices might fall later in the year since people may not have used their week yet and are more eager to get out? Or maybe closer to when MF are due? Or in your experience is time of year not very relevant?

Great forum here - learning so much by reading past posts!

Quantity tends to increase and prices tend to drop at the end of the year when mf bills are sent out.

I agree that quantity seems to pick up at the end/very beginning of the year when MF bills show up in the mail. However prices are pretty low now so I don't know how much of a price drop we'll see. Some places are being advertised for $1 and the owner pays closing costs. You can't do too much better than that - pricewise, that is!
