I got mine about 6 months ago and my husbands about 4 months ago. I have already earned 4 flights and my husband has earned 2. Yes, I charge everything.....even my morning coffee at Dunkin Donuts. Have all utlities, cell phone, cable, etc charged to the card also. Pay in full.

It helped that when I first received it, I didn't start using it right away so they sent me an offer. For something like 50 days they would give double points for every purchase. That added up quick as I purchased Disney tickets for 15 people during that that frame.

We hop on Southwest about 4 times a year - family of 3. My goal - never to pay for flights. TS for accomidations - travel cheap!!!!

There is also alot of other things I do to get my free flights. (from SW)

Example: I am signed up for dining. I get .25 credit for every $100 I spend.
If you enroll in their newsetters for 3 months (no cost) they will give you 2 credits. I check the double/triple/quadruple points for rental cars (only if they are the cheapest I will take advantage). I stay at Marriots for quick get aways and have those turned into points. There are many ways to accumulate points - not just flights and purchases.

As another poster mentioned.....the free ticket after first use is still out there. You can also use Southwest Airlines - Rapid Rewards Visa® Card to get it.

I used to use Discover and would end up having about $1,000 in the "kitty" at the end of the year. But, I never used it for travel.

I justify my frequent vacations by getting them at little cost and getting the free flight is part of the plan.

My opinion.....go for it and get the card with either one of the free ticket links.

Not forever.....but I think the promo they are running now will give you the fee back after your first purchase. But, it doesn't give you a free flight after first use. That promo is better.
