  • Big Cedar Owner Update

I now understand why people avoid owner updates. I just arrived home from a very nice stay at big cedar the only dark spot was the owner update. It was mandatory because I used my sampler points for the first time.

Our salesman Jerry seemed like a nice man. He called us back to his table and ask is we were interested in purchasing. We informed him that we just purchased 20k annual points on-line. He looked absolutely shocked. He began to tell us what a big mistake we had made. And did the whole sales routine about how to resined the deal and buy from them.

But he told us a few things that I believe to be lies and called him out on them but would like to confirm here.

    1) He asked how much maintenance fees were on the 20k points. I said around $1100 annually. He looked shocked and concerned again that this is WAY to much. He told us he had 85000 annual points and his annual fees were $1400 a year. I just told he that was not true but he insisted it was and went on. Could that be possible?

    2) He said "I will give you 500 dollars if you can use the points you bought on-line and get into big cedar because we don't even take those kind of points here." I just told him if I get in I will be looking for him. Could this be true?

    3) Then he told me "Bluegreen plans to make all "unsanctioned" purchases only good at there home resort and that when that happens the date and weeks on the deed will be the only time that we will be able to use them." Is that true?

I am pretty sure that he was just doing his best to scare and shake us into a purchase but some clarification on whether this is true would be great.

I have found these salesmen to be the biggest liars in the community OR they actually know less than the owners. I have 30,000 points and just recently paid $1,535. maintenance fees. The fee is based on a per point system. I have a friend that bought points online and he has not had problems booking other locations. Finally, I haven't heard of any rumors that will limit online purchases to their home resort.

I was at Falls Village a couple of weeks ago and it was very interesting as I heard three salesmen come by the show brochure rack and each told the couple with them that the resort could purchase show tickets up to 50% discounted. One even said they bought in bulk and the first 12 rows were reserved for them. I returned to my room and called the conceirge to say that I was interested in tickets for Andy Williams and Daniel O'Donnell. I asked for the Bluegreen discount and was told that neither of these shows accepted discounts. I already had purchased tickets weeks earlier. I then asked for the shows that accepted the Bluegreen discount. I was then told that I had to go to another location to purchase tickets. I stopped by that location only to find there were no discounts. I knew the salesmen were lying, but I told my wife I wanted to play the game to the final horn. MORAL: Don't believe anything these salesmen tell you!

I snipped a bit out, but here is what I think:
The update does give you some information, but you didn't get it from what I read. Updates done at one site seems to get different info than other sites. Too bad, because the owner really needs good up to date info from an owners update.
      1) Unless those points are really (really) special, the maintenance fee will be a lot more. I have 43K point and paid about $2100.
2)You could collect $500 from him. Pinnacle Vacation is an authorized reseller and ebay is not authorized. The only thing that you do not get in some of the points not purchased through an authorized reseller is the VIP stuff. The points are still points and can be used anywhere the Bluegreen points can be used.
      3) Yeah, good luck to them on that.

BocaBum hopefully will chime in with additional comments and clarification, but I think my short answers are correct.

More is happening with Bluegreen, but answers and info have not been coming yet.
