  • SeaGlass Tower, Myrtle Beach

OK folks, I am from the midwest and when I go to the ocean I want to see, smell, and hear the ocean. Shopping, golf, shows, etc., I can drive to but I want to wake up to the waves and watch the tides. ShoreCrest I oceanfront delivers that but is very hard to get in.

SeaGlass Tower is on the ocean but I don't even know if it is open yet. Hopefully someone has been there and looked around and can answer some questions.

    1. Does Bluegreen control all of the units or is it like Shorecrest where BG only has a small number of units?

    2. It appears that some of the 1 bedroom deluxe units face the ocean and some face the city. Am I correct? If so, which unit numbers face the ocean?

    3. Could two people sit on the balcony of a deluxe unit?

    4. If one had a standard unit, above which floor should one be so that the view is not limited by the two adjoining buildings?

    5. Would it matter if one had a south unit or a north unit deluxe? (Put another way, is all that glass for decoration and keeping the building cool or are there side windows in the units?)

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    Charles,

I believe that SeaGlass Towers is opening in September. So, I don't think anyone has stayed there yet.

I believe that the resort is a hotel conversion. So, that means that Bluegreen owns or has converted most of the units. That should bode well for availability.

I am not 100% sure about these statements. But, given their history, I think it's a reasonable guess.

SeaGlass, Carolina Grande, and Harbour Lights

      Charles,

I don't think that the SeaGlass is ready for business yet. I have
been trying to get a four day trip to MB this summer, and searched all
4 properties. ShoreCrest was, of course, impossible. I was told that
SeaGlass would not be ready until Sept or Oct; I would bet they are
behind schedule with their renovations. I believe the plans were to
convert all units into one bedrooms, and that would probably cause
major problems given the size of the building. So I doubt any pictures
would be relevant at this point in the transformation.

SeaGlass used to be one of three properties that formed the Yachtman's
Resort. SeaGlass is the 19 story one in the middle of the three
oceanfront properties; I guess the Yachtman's still control the two
9-10 story buildings that surround SeaGlass. Why would you ever sell
the one in the middle?? Probably part of that answer is that the
Yachtman needs major updating, and they were unwilling to do so.
Hence, Bluegreen and they should control the vast majority of the
units. Here is a website w/old Yachtman's pictures
      http://www.gold-crown.com/roomtypes.cfm; I am sure that new Yachtman's
will look very different. It has a great location at Myrtle Beach -
especially if you like wild and crazy teenagers all around!

Carolina Grande is brand new, and I think they are having problems
filling it right now since it was added to the list so late. We own
at ShoreCrest, and received a call from Carolina Grande people about 2
weeks ago. They invited us to stay at the Grande for 3 days, 2 nights
      - but we had to visit "early" this summer. I picked two specific days
(June 16 and 17 - Fri and Sat) to add to the 7 days we will be at
ShoreCrest, and they said sure! I would call and ask them if you could
do the same. They wanted my wife and I to do the owner's meeting, and
I said that I would not be there on that weekend. I said I could
attend on Monday, and they said fine; bending over backwards to get us
there! It looks like a great oceanview place, with a big pool on the
8th floor. You walk across the street and have access to the beach via
the resort located there; you can also use their lazy river and pools.

I agree with you about Harbour Lights. Nice place, but not even close
to the beach. Go there if you are golfing or shopping. Good location
for all the golf courses and excellent shopping and restaurants within
3 miles. And you don't have the hassle of beach traffic. But, you
are a long way from the beach!

Charles, I also have a good friend who owns lots of points at
ShoreCrest, and he could certainly help you with points (I think at 10
cents a point). Of course, Shorecrest always sells out early in the
summer, and you have to plan 8-9 months out, I think.

Thanks for all of your posts in the past! I have enjoyed them.
      Larry
