  • CMV and Owner Updat

Went to Christmas Mountain Village last week and had a great time. The resort was beautiful with all the snow, etc. and the Ski staff has done a super job also. We really enjoyed the ski area and helpful staff.

We went on an owner update and found out some good information...however, I would like to ask/share some info that I was told to see if true.

We have 2 accounts, one 8,000 biannual account which was our initial investment bought direct from BG, and one 9,000 annual account bought resale. These did not combine properly so I am paying just under $300 more in maint fees than I should have. (Yes, if I had bought through Boca this mistake could have been avoided and our next purchase will be with Boca.) THe salesperson tried to tell me that I needed to make a purchase (from them of course) prior to Dec. 31 so that I could get all of my points on the same anniversary date and maint fees fixed appropriatey. She claimed after Dec. 31 we would forever be stuck with two separate accounts and would not be able to do anything about it. Can anyone out there give me any insight? BTW, we did not make an additional purchase.

The sales department was very busy and they acted as though BG is really doing well financially right now. I also noticed that one of the sales people that we met 5 years ago at CMV was still working there. I thought that was a good sign. Have any of you had a recent update and what info do you have to share? Thanks!!

False statement. Let me know when you are ready and I'll provide you the options for your situation for upgrading, changing maintenance fees and anniversary dates.

We were there at Christmas time, but the rainy weather kept us from trying out the tubing. Still had a nice time though.

I am Mr. Negative with the sales staff at CMV. They are the worse of any sales people that I have met. The last two times we were there, they did not have the full account info printout and left us sit at the desk for 5 minutes while they checked our account and printed the info. The second time this happened, when he was gone for 3 minutes, we left. If they can not 1) get the complete info before we get there, and 2) if additional info is required to find someone to print it out while he talks with us and instead leave us sit there, then I don't feel I need to have the sales person waste our time. We walked out the door and have never been back since.

Deal with Boca. He isn't going to pull anything on you and will be as upfront with you (and me) and tell you the situation as he knows it.

Thanks a million for the information, Boca.

Vintner, you would have enjoyed the tubing area. The week after Christmas was perfect.

We also got the whole speach about the maintenance fees and such if we were to buy more points later on. The wife decided to go for an extra 9000 points bonus something, just for a year to extend this deadline they kept telling us about. Did we get screwed into spending unnecesary money on this?

Loved the CMV place, kids loved it too. We went from there to Boyne Falls around the UP.. was a great week overall.

If you use the 9000 points it's not the worst deal in the world (assuming you paid what we did for the Sampler, which I think was about $0.11/point), and definitely a better deal that buying more regular points from them. If you decide you do want more points, I'd recommend you talk to Boca Bum rather than buying at a resort.

I was just at Harbour Lights and attended my first owners update. After the initial small talk, it was a straight sales pitch. I was told that I should have received a certified letter in Nov/Dec timeframe which was a public offering to all owners to purchase points for around $1.00/pt. I was told 95% of bluegreen owners purchased points during this offering. I said that I did not receive the letter and he brought in Ms. Pearl who said that I would be allowed to purchase points at that price for that day only. I had to initial off if I declined(which I did). After I initialed, they did not seem very happy with us and we were brought downstairs for our $100 visa card.

My wife and I are Silver owners. We have owned since 2005. We did not receive any such letter that you describe. Just goes to show you how much truth stretching goes on during update meetings. We are on our way to Gatlinburg in July. I can't wait to hear what they will tell us then. But if I can limit them to an hour or so it will be worth the $75 they will likely hand out.
