Bluegreen Traveler Plus owners get access to RCI Points Resorts
I checked on Bluegreen Online also and only found it under the FAQ.
It states: You will need to register your RCI account as a "Points Member." If you have already registered your RCI.com account as a Weeks member, you will need to create an additional registration as a Points member in order to view real-time resort availability. Your RCI Weeks account and RCI Points account require separate log-in credentials.
How do I go about doing that since I am only a weeks member. Do I need to call RCI to do this.
ok. I have never used RCI, browsed their site, etc, but thats it. Trying to follow the conversation, but I am now lost. What does this all mean to me as a non power owner?
Lets say I have 10K bg points and want to use them on RCI. Whats the story?
What this means is you can use RCI Points to book RCI Points resorts on a daily basis according to the exchange fees posted above. You must be a Traveler Plus owner.
Think of it as a lot more resorts like Select Connections now available for you to exchange. You need to contact RCI to find out the conversion rate of your Bluegreen Points to the resorts that are available to exchange. I believe you will get your question answered by calling RCI.
I would wait a couple weeks for this program to shake out. I doubt everyone is training to help us yet. Early calls may lead to inaccurate information and frustration.

Thanks
yeah, an attempt today failed. Seems I need a points rci id. I tried my weeks id, and it was not accepted.
I just called RCI at 800.445.0088, the person was very nice.
You need a new points member number that they can give you at this number. Unfortunately we do not currently have access to an online account, she did not know when we would. You have to call to find out availability. This appears to be an advantage those of you that previously had a PFD account may have access to.
Is this new program going to affect our access to Bluegreen inventory, especially if we don't plan early.
She explained the window is 10 months, all availability is at the 10 month window and then is depleted as reservations are made. With the weeks you can continue to look to see if new deposits have been made, but not the case with the points system.

Only if the program isn't implemented properly (which is possible). What Bluegreen has done is agreed to seed the program with a certain amount of inventory to start. We lose that inventory. However, since exchanging is such a small fraction of the total units available, it should not effect owner bookings too much. This is especially since we have such a large amount of unused inventory (around 30% annually across all resorts and seasons).
As owners book RCI units, a balance of trade is maintained and new inventory is added to RCI based on actual exchanges made. You can think of this as the owner booking a unit for themselves. They are just trading it with an RCI member.
I was able to get my points member ID from bluegreen this am but called RCI with it and they have a note on thier customer service reps screen that states there is a problem with the portal that is bieng worked on. Seems to me they should have gotten the bugs out of this before today
If we already have an RCI points account number, is that all we need? (and being a member of Travelers Plus?)
Teresa
You need a new and separate RCI Points account for the Bluegreen account. Existing RCI Points accounts will not work with Bluegreen conversions. Just call and RCI will provide a new account number.
I spoke with a Marshal at RCI and he stated they would NOT be giving out POINTS accounts to WEEKS members. The procedure is to call 800-445-0088 and they will do the seach on the phone and then while on the phone check with BG to determine how many BG points you have so they can book for you.
It also appears the link to "RCI Nightly Stays" currently broken??? I suspect BG is rewording the page.

I just logged in to the BG web site and the "RCI Nightly Stays" link under Traveler Plus is working. They are still saying that one should sign up for a separate RCI Points Account? As Jim said earlier, it will take time for all employees to come up to speed and for everything to shake out.
The Bluegreen Point table for RCI Points resorts is up and running as well.
It is very expensive to use Bluegreen Points for an exchange. For example. In the South East which includes the Carolinas, Souteast, MidSouth, gulf States and Florida, it is 18000 Bluegreen points for a 2br unit in Red Season. It is 22000 for a 3br unit in Red Season.
The key to using this RCI points exchange is to use it for the very expensive units and NOT the more modest accommodations.
For instance, using it for Disney Vacation Club is good. So, is using it for the Manhattan Club and Hilton Hawaiian Village in Hawaii.
Where are people seeing the BG resorts designated as RCI POINTS resorts?
I looked in the RCI resort directory and also on the BG site. I'm curious to see which resorts are designated as RCI Points resorts and which aren't but I can't figure out where to look.
