  • Western Trip in Aug

I am still trying to decide whether to buy BG or not. Just finished our second sampler trip, this time to Williamsburg. Had a great time and the facility was very adequate. Stayed at Patrick Henry Square.

A question for all. We are planning a driving trip this coming August to Banff, Canada, Glacier Nat Park, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, etc. Is is possible as a owner to book locations (probably through RCI) for 1 - 3 nights stays in these areas? How difficult would it be to coordinate all these bookings? I understand you can book RCI for as little as one night at a time. Any help or idea of facilities would be greatly appreciated. I have decided that if I buy, it will probably be from BocaBum through Pinnacle. I am not going to pay the high prices that BG charges.

    Hi Ron,

Unfortunately, the answer is a major NO, it is not possible to do what you are asking about. It is extremely difficult to get even a traditional week long exchange into any of the locations in the northern Rockies during August. Getting a short exchange of only a few nights...and especially stringing these exchanges together to form a trip...is simply impossible.

If you were to purchase WorldMark credits...and you planned a full 13 months in advance...you might be able to get a few nights at West Yellowstone followed by a few nights at Canmore outside Banff. (Of course, it's too late for this summer...but might work for 2011.) You still would have to book hotels in the Tetons and at Glacier, however, but at least you'd have a timeshare in a couple of your destinations. That's probably the best you can hope for from a timeshare in this region of the country.

Thanks Steve, that is kind of what I thought but wanted to ask the question anyway. I will keep digging for a cost effective way to visit that area. Hotels seem to range from $200 - 500 per night in that region.
