  • Upcoming Visit to Club 36

Hello to all BG owners -- My wife and I will be going to Club 36 for our first visit in early June. I need advice from you guys who have been there. Is the walk from Club 36 to MGM Grand well lit and safe at Midnight or after? Is there a grocery close by if one does not have a car (for breakfast items such as cereal, milk, fruit, etc.)? What type of restaurants are available within Club 36 and do you recommend them (BG details indicate there are four restaurants)? Is the monorail, deuce buses, and trolley cars quickly accessible? Can one hail a cab rather quickly? What might be your recommendations for entertainment (one headliner and others that might be inexpensive to moderately priced? Can you give me your favorite dinner locations (inexpensive to moderately priced)? I will appreciate other recommendations to make my trip an enjoyable one.

I love reading all the postings from happy BG owners. My wife and I have been owners since the 1990's, and love the opportunity for all to share their experiences.

Spent a week there in December. Liked the indoor pool alot. Way bizarre dryer in the units. Pretty good beds. Might want to take ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. It was kind of cool to sit on the couch and wave at passengers as the planes flew over. Rent a car. Parking is easy at Club 36 and pretty easy at any of the hotels on the strip. It would certainly NOT be a nice walk a midnight. You really are not close to anything (like blocks) except the shops in the first floor of the building. We had a car and used it alot. Walmart supercenter is about 10 minutes by car. The shuttle is not really much of an option.

      Patrick,
You are in for a treat and will enjoy your stay at Club 36. When we were there in August, we enjoyed the atmosphere of the resort. It is a pretty good walk to MGM, but the people younger than us (most) that walked for exercise did not hesitate to walk it. The walk back late at night would be dark and I would not want to do that. The MGM has a boarding place for the tram and is a good starting place to "do the strip". The eating places on site are fine. There is an ABC store within 25 steps of the front door that is a convenience type store with most any type of grocery item that you would want at reasonable prices. (An ABC Store where I live would be a liquor store, but not in Vegas) Try to make sure that you are in the Captains Wing if you can. That would be the city side facing the strip. The noise from planes is not a problem and the view is good. Great pool and deck area, first class elevators. I don't know what kind of shows that you like, but there is a great show at the Mirage if you like funny, clean entertainment. Terry Fator and his puppets put on a sold out show every night. He won America's Got Talent a few years back. It is super funny, and something that you could take kids to. The Wax Museum on the strip is also great if you have not been before. Club 36 is a little bit by itself right now as development around it (and elsewhere in Vegas) has come to a halt. It will get better as more development takes place. A lot of the streets were dug up for utility replacement when we were there, but there was no work going on. I asked a cabbie what the deal was and he said that the city had run out of money and had to stop. Maybe they have been stimulated by now. I have some pictures that I can send if you will send me your email address in a private message. Enjoy

There is sidewalk all the way to the strip from Club 36. It is about 2/3 of a mile to the Strip from Club 36. There are streetlights all the way. But it is nice having a car available. Walking is doable but some sections along the way have the sidewalk right beside the drive lane.

Club 36 runs a shuttle to the MGM but only until about 6PM. You can check on that when you get there and take that during the day.
Cabs should be readily available at Club 36.

There is an ABC convenience store at Club 36 that has a variety of stuff. Prices are a little higher though - but you're on vacation. It is the best choice when you don't have a car. At Club 36 there is a Bagel shop, gourmet burger restaurant, Subway, and pizza place. I've had it all except for the burger place - all good. You must exit the resort and enter these places from outside. There's also a liquor store there and the ABC store sells alcohol as well.

From the airport you can take any of the shuttle companies - make sure you tell them the "bluegreen resort". It's usually the first stop from the airport.

Great indoor pool and hot tub - take your bathing suits. Nice sundeck outside the pool area. Bar in the pool area that operates on weekends - unless they've extended it.

Club 36 is across the street from the airport and one of the flight paths goes right by the place. It's not bad when inside the building. If you are used to TOTAL quiet use earplugs.

For eating out, I like the smaller sit-down type restaurants. I've eaten at these in Tropicana, MGM, and it was either the Venetian or Palazzo. Reasonably priced and good food.

I'll be ready to go back again sometime this year. I was there this past Thanksgiving. Just missed the partial opening of City Center.
