I'm a new BlueGreen owner and I remember that the BlueGreen represenative stated we could use our points with RCI to take a cruise. I was wondering if anyone has any other information on this ?
Yes, what you are referring to is a program called PointSmart. PointSmart is a feature of Traveler Plus and allows you to use your points to purchase amongst other things, Cruises.
Traveler Plus allows you to use points or cash for cruises. I would compare the two costs and see what is better for you. Bluegreen used to give you about $.04/point credit toward the cash price of a cruise. Not sure how much it is anymore. If you call to find out, please post your findings here.
I recently booked a cruise using Bluegreen, cruising this Oct.
The cruise price was the same price as listed, at that time, on the cruise companies website. It's a Carnival cruise.
Thru BG I used 5000 points to get $200 off the cruise price.
You can use 5000 points each to get $200 off for each person on the cruise.
e.g. two people - 10,000 points for $400 off. You are not required to use points for each person on the cruise, you can do it for one person if you desire.
So it does work out to be $0.04 cents per point discount off the cruise price.
Not really a great deal but I needed to used some points.
Once it's booked you can manage your cruise on the cruise companies website.
