  • Want to rescind and buy resale

We just bought a 9000 point (4500 every other year) package with unlimited bonus time. We had a Charter Certificate (Silver certificate). I believe our contract says that we have 5 days to cancel. Our price was around $10,000 for the whole deal. We have children with special needs and our daughter was getting an anxiety attack. Plus we had been in the sales meeting twice as long as we told her, she has Autism and this did not sit well with her. She functions on time and routine. Anyway, we joined this group with very little knowledge and have read that we might have missed an opportunity to save lots of money. Can someone let us know what we could get for that amount in the resale market? Would we have the same perks (bonus time and such)? How does the resale process work? How do we sign all of the paperwork? How do we know it is legit? Thanks in advance for any timely advice.

Hi Roger and Welcome to TS4Ms....

Many people find us after making a developer or resale purchase and have regrets....

I am far from a BG expert (I am actually learning about it myself just this week) but after looking thru the "stickies" on the top of this page, I believe you can also save money buying resale.

The important thing right now is to rescind your developer purchase and do your homework.
If you find out after looking around and asking questions that you want to buy from the developer, that deal will always be there (even though they probably told you TODAY ONLY deal).

Follow the directions EXACTLY as outlined in your documents to rescind.
If it says to send by US Mail - do not FedEx it - follow the directions exactly!

Something that is VERY important with this particular company is to tell them ONLY that u have changed your mind about TSing and leave it at that. Do not mention resale options as this could be a problem for a future purchase (Have u read those stickies on the top of this forum yet?)

BG seems to be a great, extremely flexible ownership....so take your time, do your homework then decide if it is right for you.

We have been owners since 2002, have been to Myrtle Beach several times and stayed right on the beach (not in town, not across the street, a unit where we walk down stairs and onto the sand), we have been to a couple places in Florida, Gatlinburg (musgma-great view, but get points), Pigeon Forge, Montana and Christmas Mountain. We have done an exchange once.

My wife is a teacher, so we do spring break in one location (coming from MN, we want something warm) and one summer location.

If you want all the perks, you have to deal with BG directly or their resale branch, Pinnacle. Do not contact Pinnacle directly. Instead, contact Jim (BocaBum) who is the moderator of this group and is a referring agent for Pinnacle. He is very knowledgeable about BG, about how people's needs and wants change over time, and he is honest and reliable (a rare combination but true). Send him a private message. He will help you find a package that will suit your needs and budget. And he will help you with the paperwork which is very simple.

Personally, I would want everyone to buy at least one package directly from BG because without new purchases, there won't be new resorts. But, since you found out about resales now, if you don't rescind now, you will hate yourself later and that will cloud your enjoyment of Bluegreen. And that is what is important.

Definitely rescind now, following the directions in the contract to the letter. Be sure to send the rescission letter with a return receipt requested through the US Postal Service, in addition to any other method specified in the contract.

You don't have to give a reason for rescinding in your letter.

Then the Bluegreen experts here will help you figure out how to buy just what you need for your family, and get the most out of your membership. Good luck!
