  • What happens if you are a few points short?

I have been fiddling around with different point amounts in relationship to what I want to do/reserve.
And I always seem to be 1,000 short!

With Wyndham, I am able to 'borrow' from next year or pay a small fee to get that amount of points.

How does BG handle this situation and is it handled differently if you are a premiere member or 'regular' member?

And if you are 1,000 or 3,000 short, does this stop u from reserving online?

I am trying to decide if it is better to buy a few more points upfront and end the year with some 'left-overs' or buy as I need them... and what can u do with those 'left-overs' - can they go forward to the next year?

I continue to read, read, read!

    Are you buying another TS?

I thought you just got rid of one?

I don't have any BG yet (but I'm looking) but I have seen others say that they budget their points for Weekly stays and buy the add on days closer to check in. I guess it's BG's version of open season. I guess this wouldn't work in high season though obviously.

There are several things you can do if you are just short of points.

        1) Borrow from next year.

        2) If you are a Traveler Plus owner, you can rent 1000 point blocks from BG for $150.

        3) Rent from another owner some points and have them book you the extra nights you need to complete your reservation. If you coordinate it properly, you can stay in the same unit.

        4) use bonus time to supplement points usage.

Thanks....with the base MF per 1,000 points at $40.50ish, it would probably make sense to have a few extra to play with....
Is there a time restriction involved with borrowing from next year?
Can it be done at any time as to fit into (or not interfere with the ability to use) the 11 month reservation window?

There are 2 rules for borrowing points.

              1) It must be 12 months or less until your next points earn date.

              2) You must have paid the maintenance fees for those points.

The Bluegreen Vacation Club fiscal year is Nov 1 to Oct 31. Almost all maintenance fees are due on Nov 1 (ahead of the use year).

So, if you have an Oct 1 anniversary date (for example), you could borrow those points today without having to pre-pay 2011 maintenance fees since you will have paid the MF for those points last Nov.
