  • Where do you look for cheap BG "Points" for sale?

Besides the obvious - ebay, TUG board and this forum, where else should I be looking at? I've been doing some searches through google, but it sure does take a lot of time and effort to go thorugh a lot of posts (I have dial-up). Just wondering if there were some regular places to keep checking for dirt cheap points to buy.
    Thanks!

I find eBay prices to be pretty good.

If you want to get a steal, you need to find listings anywhere they may be and make low ball offers. If you set your low ball price at the right level, then you should be able to get a 1 in 10 hit rate. Expect 9 no's for every yes.

What would be a killer price for Bluegreen per point?

I am asking this because Rick won't let me buy that fabulous 42,000 point package, with low MF's and so many possibilities.

Does it matter which resort, or are MF's higher in some locations?

A smokin' good deal for Bluegreen points would be anything less than $.30/point.

If anyone ever offers you points for that price, you buy first and ask questions later. Just make sure that that price is for every year points.

          question about resale

I logged onto the sites that katmandu suggested. I am currently a Bluegreen owner. I have 9000 yearly points that I receive every September. I want more points so that I can book a full week at 11 months at any Bluegreen resort. If I buy a resale, will these new points be added to my current contract or will it be a completely separate contract? If it is a separate contract can these new points be combined with my current points when making reservations?

Please excuse, if these are dumb questions. I have been a Bluegreen member for less than a year. I just stumbled onto your forum and from reading the posts I am afraid I don't even know what it is that I don't know. It all is still very confusing.

Thanks for any help you can give me in trying to increase my points.

            Hi Paula,

Welcome to our Bluegreen forum. Any questions you have can be asked here. We'll help everyone at all levels of experience. There are no dumb questions.

If you buy resale points, they automatically get combined into your account so that you can book points across your current and your new points. So, if you buy 9000 more points, you can book an 18000 point reservation.

What isn't combinable is your anniversary date or the maintenance fee structure. To do that you need to do an upgrade with Bluegreen. Or, you need to buy the right resale account types.

Send me a PM if would like more details and I'd be delighted to help you out.

What would be the right resale account types? What kinds are there? We just bought some resale points and I am curious.

              Thanks!

If you own points that have the new program structure of $290+$026/point, you get preferential maintenance fees if you buy additional points with the same maintenance fee structure.

There are 5 types of accounts. The only ones that are combinable are those with maintenance fees calculated with the above formula. If you know the sales type of the account, then you need to have sales type Y and Z. The problem is that almost nobody knows the sales type of points they've purchased. The sales guy never tells them.

Send me a PM if you'd like more information about this topic.

                  Thanks Boca,

We bought 6000 points in December from Bluegreen. Recently we bought 18000 more on e-bay to make us Silver members (we hope). We won't get the title for up to 60 days. The maintanence fee for the 18,000 is $908. This probably isn't the same structure is it? Do you know how we would find out? Any suggestions appreciated.

Here is my guess what will happen.

First, you will receive Silver member benefits. When you call the preferred owner line, they will recognize you as a silver member with 24000 annual points. That's the good news. I just spoke to someone today who bought resale in April and they have attained silver preferred.

Second, your maintenance fees will NOT combine to the preferential level. Since you bought in December, your maintenance fees for those points should be $290+$.026*6000 = $446. If the maintenance fees for the 18000 point account are indeed $908, then you will be paying $446+908 = $1354 for maintenance fees. That is very high for 24,000 points.

If you purchased new program points to add onto your current account, your maintenance fees would be $290+$.026*24000 = $914. That would have been an additional savings of $440/year. That is a huge difference.

Also, there is a chance that the eBay reseller under reported the maintenance fees to you and that this year's maintenance fees could be 18,000*.054 = $972. That would make your situation even worse. I say this because $.054 is the formula for the most popular old program maintenance fee in existence today. Of course, it is possible for $908 to be correct. I can tell you for sure if you knew the sales type of the account. But, as I mentioned, almost nobody knows the sales type of their account.

I can help you fix this situation. But, it will require some pain. If you're interested, let me know. Otherwise, just keep things as they are and enjoy your membership. You can do a lot with 24,000 Bluegreen points.
