RCI Points Affiliation Agreement

I'm hoping that Boca can shed some light on the new Bluegreen affiliation agreement with RCI Points, which he mentioned in another thread. (If I missed a full discussion somewhere, I apologize.)

One of the selling points of the Bluegreen Points system has been that you had flexibility with weeks you could reserve (using BG points) and then bank for exchange with an RCI weeks account. This arrangement has provided the ability to use a high demand week when you need it and something with lower demand when you don't (depending on what you're trying to exchange into).

Now a lot of the BG resorts are listed as RCI Points resorts in the RCI directory. Does that mean you can no longer reserve a week at a BG resort and trade it as a week with an RCI weeks account but ONLY exchange BG points for a certain number of RCI points? Or is there still the option to deposit and trade weeks?

Once you have reserved a week, you have the right to use it, rent it, give it away, or deposit it with any exchange company that will take it. As far as I know, RCI Weeks will still take BG weeks except from some associate resorts (and I don't know why). However, when depositing with RCI, make sure it is a depositable week week when you reserve. By that I mean, if you make a Sat to Sat reservation and the original deed is Sun to Sun, RCI won't take it. I believe they do that so that owners don't make mistakes and deposit different days than they have actually reserved. With 3,000,000 members, it takes only a few mistakes to get some very bad press.

Don't make such reservations online. Call and tell them that you are depositing and they will make sure you get the right checkin day.
