  • Bluegreen Club 36 (las Vegas) Comments

We spent 9 nights at Club 36 in Las Vegas (4/25 - 5/4). We were not disappointed. Very friendly staff, nice room (322A) and relatively close to the strip. Just a few comments about some odds and ends. The chairs and sofa in the room look uncomfortable....BIG suprise...our bottoms liked them fine. Walking to the strip is Ok if it is below 80 degrees and you are in good shape. Everything seems close until you start walking. Cab fares are high. Try renting at small car. Parking on the strip is abundant in hotel provided garages...no charge for self park, only for valet parking. The stores and eateries by Club 36 are all very good...the Dhue pizza is very good and the sundry store has a good selection of items. Go to Walmart on Tropicana for groceries. It is about 3 miles away. There is not direct left turn lane into Club36. You have to go down about 1/4 mile to do a U turn from the lane provided. Try the back way in and out. It is quicker sometimes. Leave early for the airport! The TSA lines are long. If you return a car, the return is way off-site. Basically, you go down one side of the airport, turn, go down the other side, drop the car, get on a shuttle, go up the other side of the airport to the terminal....you get to look at the airport from three sides! Allow at least 2 1/2 hours to do this.

We also ventured on two canyon tours with Sweets Tours. Phillip at the concierge's desk can make the arrangements. We liked the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam tour....BUT our favorite was the Zion and Bryce Canyon tour. It is a long tour (15 hours), but well worth it (2 feet of snow still on the ground up by Bryce at the 10,500 foot elevation).

Did you say it is a 15 hour tour?

While the canyon tour would be nice, I can live without snow. I see it from Oct until April many years.

When did the hotels in Vegas start charging for valet? It's been just over two years since we've been to Vegas but I've never known them to charge for valet nor have I read that valet wasn't still free anywhere else. Other than tipping the valet, which is at your discreation, are they now actually charging to valet park your car?

I also noticed you don't mention anything about the noise, or lack of noise, from the airport. Club 36 is essentially at the end of one of the runways for McCarren. Have they done a good enough job with insulation or did you get lucky during your nine nights and they didn't use that runway?

        More Info

        More info....

The 15 hour tour was for Zion and Bryce canyons. You have to go to Utah for that tour. The Grand Canyon tour lasted 12 hours. Zion and Bryce was the better tour for some really neat rock formatioms. You just have to commit to a long day....and take the next day off....pool day, quick visit to the strip, etc.

We did not valet park. So I have no idea if there were any charges.

The unit we had had no noise problems. We were on the third floor (322A) facing the Strip...but at an angle. The noise would probably be a little louder on the other side of the building. The only time we noticed noise was when we were outside. I have stayed at many hotels in my travels that had much louder environments than Club 36. In my opinion, I think people are making too much of an issue out of the location being close to the airport ... or maybe I'm just old and can't hear anything anymore.

If they did a good job with the insulation, the location at the end of the runway is no big deal.

Valet parking in Vegas has always been free, just like self parking. The attendants do expect a tip but it's not a requirement. Sometimes valet is easier, sometimes self parking is easier. Sometimes the valet after a show lets out takes longer than if you just self parked.

We were there for a week and they used that runway about 5 or 6 days which I think was unusual since it is a single runway and the perpendicular runways are a double. We occasionally heard the planes after they flew over the area but it was in no way annoying. No big deal.

That runway isn't used all that often. It depends on which way the wind is blowing (literally). It's great when they use that runway and you have the correct seats because the flight path goes straight down the strip and it can be a beautiful site, especially for night landings. That particular runways seems to be used more for corporate planes and the occasional Janet plane (area 51 jets ferrying workers). It's not a busy runway.

It's always nice to know that a developer didn't cut corners. If BG hadn't insulated those units very well, it could be a miserable week of listening to jets landing that are just above the rooftop. It's still not the location I'd want while in Vegas but, if you own in BG and want to use internal exchanges to get to Vegas, it's not a bad location so long as the building is insulated with the thought of jets landing nearby. It appears that BG has done a great job with the resort in that respect. For that they should be applauded.

I've been to Club 36 three times now. The jet noise is negligible when the airport uses that particular runway. When jets take off the sound is very muffled when inside. It's neat to be swimming in the pool and watching the jets go by for landing. Even when on the sundeck it's not that loud and it's cool to watch the planes land and take off.

The Club 36 shuttle will take you up to the MGM during the day, and pick you up there. After about 6PM you are on your own. It is handy to have a rental car if you are making several trips a day to the Strip.

I just returned from Vegas, well Club 36 and Luxor, that was all I saw. Interesting trip as it was for stock trading classes, not for pleasure.

I was standing outside Club 36, or Bluegreen as the cabbies call it. I was trying to figure out what I was going to do for dinner. As I was standing there, I heard a noise like a jet had thrown on the after burners or was crashing. It was loud. Suddenly and much smaller twin prop plane was landing on the near runway. As it went over the parking lot, car alarms started going off. It was funny to me. However, in my room, I heard a plane only once or twice. Nice room.

My only complaint there would be the people in the next room. They kept trying to open the lock out door between our rooms, 3 times.

Well, that and the problems of getting a cab to the resort for pickup. Cabbies don't like it that there is not direct access off the road, they have to do a turn around on the road to get into the lot. I nearly missed the start of the class because the cab wasn't coming. Someone end up flagging down a cab to get us there.

The big sign on the building just says BLUEGREEN. Only the little sign at the street says Club 36, easily missed. So if you ever go and use taxis or shuttles just say "Bluegreen resort".

The 'turning around' to get to Club 36 that Vintner mentioned is when coming from the Strip to get there. You have to go past then make a u-turn using the lane.

I'll be going, again, at Thanksgiving. I'll be ready to soak in the hot tub, and make my "donations" in Vega$$$.

Bluegreen has done a great job with Club 36. Despite all of the writing about noise etc, it is nice and quiet with plenty of amenities and nice surroundings. You could get that amount of noise from any resort location from the street traffic etc. They also do a great job of looking after the guests. We really enjoyed it and will go back. One of the nicer BG properties (of course it is new)

I just returned from Vegas. There is actually a back way into the resort that a cabbie showed me. Coming from the Strip on Harmon, turn right on Lamar (a little past Grand Desert). About a block down the road splits. Stay to the left and it will take you right to the rear entrance at Club 36.
