  • wanting to buy extra

We currently have 20,000 points and would like to buy extra. Any idea what resorts to buy from. We currently own in Mi but like big ceder the best. We have owned for about 10 years. we have paid way to much for our resorts. I would like about 4 to 8 thousand more points.

    Hi and welcome to TS4Ms.

Look at the "stickies" at the top of this board.
You can buy "qualified" points from Pinnacle at an extremely attractive price and become 'gold' by adding 15K points.

If you are not interested in getting more benefits - adding "unqualified" points is really inexpensive at this time.
Home resort is not important for BG ownership but consolidating your ownerships is very important to keep MFs reasonable....check the stickies"Full Disclosure" for some great deals.

It sure is. You might even find someone who will give it away.

Maintenance Fees are determined by which Trust Fund your points are in (determined by date of original sale by BG). If you join the BG Yahoo Group, you will find a spreadsheet that allows you to calculate fees for different Trust Funds. I am guessing yours is D and right now BG is selling in E. E is good for a large number of points. If you buy from eBay, etc., they (99.9+%) probably won't know which Trust Fund they are in. If you get the wrong mix of Trust Funds you will end up paying more MF each year. Search the archives for a detailed discussion of Trust Funds. If you work with Jim (BocaBum), he knows Trust Funds. PS Don't call BG. The employees you encounter don't know about Trust Funds.

Home Resort is important to some since under the 12 month rule you can reserve "your" unit/week 12 months out before the 11 month open reservation window opens. However, if you purchase 4-8,000 more points that might not be enough points to get you a unit/week that would allow you to take advantage of the 12 month rule. Also, there is great difficulty in finding such a unit/week.

As always, my advice is to contact Jim (BocaBum). He has access to lots of qualified and unqualified inventory and he can help you get what is best for you now and in the future.

So I got 2 out of 3 points correct??

I know I asked this question myself and the general consensus was that it would be VERY difficult to actually find a "week/unit" at a particular resort so home resort did not matter in terms of reservations BUT if your points were "unqualified" you could ONLY reserve bonus time at your home resort and that is important to many people.

If you own for 10 years, you have an older package. You should probably consider upgrading because it may reduce your maintenance fees.
