  • New Purchase Question: When does the 2010 point year begin? Was I scammed?

I bought my BG timeshare in Dec. 2009. At closing I paid $1,300 in maint. fees.

My contract says I can begin usage in the 2010 season. What does this mean? My assumption was that I could begin booking in Jan. 2010, however, a couple days after closing the old owner booked all the points. The old owner's reservations are for later this summer and are still pendinding.

I spoke to Bluegreen and they said I have control of all the pending reservations and I can cancel the old owner's pending bookings if I would like.

Should I cancel his reservations or does that $1,300 I paid in 2009 get applied in Oct. 2010?

If you have a dec 1 anniversary, then dec 1, 2009 is in the 2010 use year since bg operates on a fiscal year starting on Nov 1. You are entitled to all points granted on dec 1, 2010.

I would tell the prior owner that give back the $1300 or cancel the ressies.

Was this a private purchase or through a company. If a company, which company?

I feel if you buy resale, you don't really get any rights.

I am all for buying used, but the allocation of points in the between time is a grey area.

When do you start paying maintenance fees. The maintenance fees for 2010 pts was due Nov 1 2009. Did you have to bring the account up-to-date, or was there a zero balance when the points were put in to your account. Or did you have to reimburse the previous owners for the 2010 maintenance fees. Or did they use 2009 points to make their resie.

Many things to consider. You can actually cancel online too. But it will cost you $35 (I think) or you can use 1 of your strikes if you're premier.
