  • The LAST Cheap Platinum package ever!

As of June 1, 2010, resale purchases will NOT qualify for VIP or Premier features unless purchased at or above the retail rate of $1.25/point.

If there is anyone sitting on the fence about purchasing a Platinum Package, here is the last one available at a cheap price. As of Tuesday, this package will sell for $75,000.

The Fountains, 60000 annual points, Nov 1 anniversary date
    - Purchase Price: $14000
    - Closing: $700
Total out the door: $14,700. First usage Nov 1, 2010. Maintenance fees and taxes for 2010 were $2740.

If anyone is interested, let me know.

From $14,700 to $75,000? Are they nuts? That is worse than the Marriott or other big developers.

How many weeks of vacation are involved, Jim? I know that you are only the messenger and have no choice but to sell it for that price.

I have to say I don't think it is unreasonable of BG to do this.

I am sure the sales staff love this. I know the sales dept does not get a stellar grade on these boards. Nor should they. I was conned when I first signed through BG.

But the sales dept is also the lifeblood of the company. They make it possible for us to get a 2-bdrm in Orlando during Easter for $700. Or a 3-bdrm at Big Cedar over July 4 for $1100. What would we pay on the open market.

I have met some pretty decent people in the sales dept, and they need something. And that something is Premier. Premier should be a developer benefit.

We can still buy at 5 cents/point and use those points as we wish. But there should be something extra for paying $1.25+/point.

Wow - I'm glad we bought our bronze package when we did (BTW - thanks Jim) - although that's a bummer should we want to upgrade.

At least now that we have our foot in the door, we can still add points for cheap if we want now that we've already got benefits...

Emmy, this represents 4-6 weeks of vacation plus comes with many benefits - at this level, you get 3 additional 'white season' weeks for no additional MFs.

The developer pricing is actually much more then what is quoted, this price is thru an authorized reseller.

Thanks Pat as that doesn't sound so bad then but still a very big increse in price. Someone will have bought that package by now if it really is a good deal, I am sure.

Yes, as the only authorized reseller of Bluegreen, Jim has had a REALLY busy weekend.

You can still get unbelievable deals on resale points that do not have VIP benefits and for many people, that is all they want.
But others get great use out of the premiere benies so want to get in while they can.

Dang, I went out of town for the weekend and missed some big doings!

I am REALLY glad I did my upgrade to Platinum already!

Jim, any other changes in the works? This is a biggie. What do you think about the change?

Yes, it sold on Monday morning. Just in the nick of time. I really do believe it was the last great deal.

Actually, I am good with the change. The main reason is that resales are now on a level playing field with the resorts for VIP/Premier packages. I have been the black sheep of the family for 4-5 years only because the price was cheaper which wasn't my fault. Now, when I make sales for VIP/Premier upgrades, they won't be at a disadvantage and will probably congratulate me for the sales I do make. I plan to be successful. The market will be different, but there are a ton of potential customers out there who like and want the Premier benefits.

Any predictions on what this will do to the price of non-premium point packages? Could this flood the market with sellers that now think they ~will only sell for premium~ and drive the price up (due to a shrinking pool) of non-premium packages?

I expect no change at all to the other points on the market.

Jim, does this mean if we are gold members and want to buy the other 24,000 points we need to be platinum we have to pay at least 1.25 per point to upgrade with benefits or can we purchase the 24,000 points for less and still have platinum benefits?

Another question I have is will this increase the value of the points you already have?
