adding points from private seller, help plz?

Hi everyone! Not only have we decided to stay with the package we bought last week, I spoke with a friend today and we are negotiating to purchase her points as well. She and her husband are separating and they both want to sell the timeshare, for what they owe on it.

My questions are:
1. How do we accomplish this? Do we need an attorney? Is it as easy as paying 250 and changing the deed?

2. Do the new points get added to our current account with BG? Or is it considered a separate account? The points are deeded at a different resort, in a different state than our original points.

3. How do we handle the maintenance fees? Is our only option to pay two separate maintenance fees, or can we combine them possibly getting a discount of some sort?

4. Assuming the accounts CAN be combined, what is the anniversary date? Our new package (22k points) will have June 1, my friend's package is August 1.

Hi Kacey, Welcome to TS4Ms - I know you posted about your developer purchased points earlier.

Some of the experts will come along to answer your questions I am sure but I know it is important to know what Trust Fund your friends points are in because it can affect your maint. fees.

Maybe not Kacey - I know it is wonderful to want to help a friend but be sure that you can combine these two ownerships without having to pay two fees of $310. Apparently this can happen if the Trust Funds are not the same.

edit - I was going to add 9K points that were a 'giveaway' from someone - but the funds did not match up so my MFs would have been that much higher.

NO, apparently not from what others have said.....I suggest you PM BocaBum99 and ask him - he will be able to ascertain if these ownerships will 'mesh' for you. If they do not, he will be able to help you obtain addition points at a very reasonable price.
I hope you will be able to help your friend by purchasing from them but you have to put your own interests first....and generally what people 'owe' on a TS purchase is MUCH more then the points are worth on the resale market. Remember that none of the premiere perks transfer with that private sale.
