My wife and I are thinking of going to Big Cedar with our son (2yo). The place appears to have great reviews, but I was hoping to hear from some people who have been there on some specifics. Would there be anything to do in mid-September or would it be too cold? Also, the combined two bedroom lodge looks like it would have plenty of space and wouldn't require too many points, but I also noticed the concierge and presidential units. Are they worth the huge point difference? Thank you.

Big Cedar in September?

September is great. This year the lake is much warmer than normal, already 90 degrees. If it continues to be warm, it will still be very swimmable in September.
September in Branson is a lesser busy month as the area gets ready for peak, tour bus season, Fall and Christmas.

With the many things WC does have, one thing it does not is view.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Big Cedar in September is fantastic!
The trees won't have started turning yet so no fall color.
The lazy river & slide are closed after labor day so you miss that.
But everything else is still very doable. My kids have been swimming in the (heated) outdoor pools as late as December and as early as March.
You can still boat on the lake, (ski, pontoon, canoe, or paddle boats), ride horses, swim, etc.
I personally can't see how the new presidential and concierge units are going to be worthwhile for anyone points wise. I'm guessing they're going to end up being great for bonus time for those of us who live close and are Premier level.
If you haven't been there yet, you'll find that the normal 2 bedrooms are plenty luxurious. They have nice bedding, pretty furnishings and fabrics and a lodge-y / outdoorsy opulence. I have heard them compared favorably to Disney properties and having stayed at DVC Vero Beach recently, I can say that Big Cedar is easily on par if not beyond in quality. (loved Vero Beach Resort, btw.)
Enjoy - Big Cedar is my favorite place on earth aside from home

There's also an indoor pool at the Wilderness Club clubhouse that is open year round, and the outdoor hottub should still be open.
September in Branson averages highs of 80/lows of mid 50's. October is highs of 70/lows of 50. The temperature should be pretty comfortable for hikes and such, and you'll probably need a jacket in the evening.

Big Cedar in September
You should check out the website Branson Missouri Resorts | Big Cedar | Branson Missouri Vacation Lodging . The September brochure for the resort should be posted there by the end of July. It will tell you about extra activities not listed currently on the website. Some of these activities repeat for several months, so the brochures for June and July will show similar things to do a BC. I haven't been to BC in September that I can recall, but I believe the lazy river shuts down sometime during that month.
I just got back from Disney too. Big Cedar is quite a bit nicer than Old Key West, but it's almost the same as Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Villas.
Have Fun,
Mark

I will be there next week and the extended forcast is showing temperatures of 93 to 102 deg. That is way too hot for my Norwegian bloodline. Heck, 85 is hot.
I told the wife-no more. Drive 2 days and stay in a hotel each way only to get to the resort and say inside the unit for a week because it is too hot to do anything outside. Next time we fly, and that will be to someplace cooler.Don

Don't worry yet
I check the forecast before I go to Big Cedar every time. Not ONCE has the forecast been accurate and it has always been cooler than the forecast. You might be just fine!
I had the same worry about our trip last week to Gatlinburg. I feared it would be miserably hot and we'd just want to stay inside all day after driving 2 long days with 3 kids! We caught a break -- it was never over 90 when we were there, and in the evenings it was low 70s most nights. Lovely! Let's hope you have that kind of luck in Ridgedale
