  • new level and other "news" from the sales staff?

I went to my owner's update today, and heard a few things that I was surprised by. Please sort out the truth for me

    1. there may be a new presidential level...at 80K points; if you upgrade now, you'll be at that level "if and when" they roll out a new level. It won't be for a few years they said.

    2. since the public offering, they are offering wholesale prices now to upgrade: $1.80/point Is that really the less than 10K point purchase price per point?

    3. Bluegreen will take all of the deeds for all of your other timeshare weeks, and give you what you paid for them (they would look up the deeds to see what you paid), and give you credit toward the purchase of a lot in any Bluegreen community, up to $14K. This will end you paying maintenance fees on all those other unwanted timeshares (fixed weeks and RCI points based weeks)

    4. Bluegreen has the first right of refusal. I told them that unless I see them using that right to buy up inventory from Ebay etc, I won't believe it. If they have the right, but don't use it, it won't help narrow the gap between resale and direct purchases.

    5. Bluegreen is going to a 25 year right to use business model instead of a deed. "right now we are still selling deeds"

    6. If you upgrade now, you can participate in the new AIM program where they will take any level, and color week (they said that my AIM program, the resorts needed to be silver or gold, and only red season)

    7. The new presidential level would include three free weeks that could be used during any season (vs platinum owners have 3 weeks in white and blue season only)

I sure would love to ditch a whole bunch of my fixed weeks and my rci points, but it would require an upgrade and then a purchase of a lot that I don't want/need. They say the lots start at $14,900 (of course those would be the lousy lots...the better lots are 25-35K, with the prime lots costing much more)

How much of what I was told was true, and is $1.80/point the "going rate"?

    Thanks,
    Teresa

I will start with a couple of things that are true. There MAY be a new level at sometime at some point level. And BG does have FROR, but I don't think they have ever exercised it. Someone who understand the Aim program will have discuss that part.

even a bad lot could be worth getting rid of your timeshare. I am just wondering, does it have to be a Bluegreen timeshare, and how would they see your sale price if you bought resale.

The sales rep said that they would look up how much you paid for the timeshare, but how would that work for my Australian based RCI points? The thought of getting rid of my weeks is very tempting...but I'd have to have some guarantee that they would take each of my other weeks before I'd do an upgrade.

Is $1.80 the best price one could hope for buying from a resort?

You really need to contact Boca on something this complicated.

Of course there may be a new level in the future. An asteroid may hit the earth as well. This is total speculation and should be completely discounted as a sales tactic to get you to buy something now. Sales personnel are the LAST to know about anything new like this. When you see it posted on these message boards as a new policy or program or announced as a press release on the Bluegreen website, then it's real.

No, the lowest price to qualify for Premier features or charter member benefits is now $1.25/point via Pinnacle. I can help you or anyone else get them at that rate.

This apparently is true. But, if you are interested, make sure you get a quote in writing. Send it to me to review and I'll tell you for sure if it is legit. The reason this is true is that Bluegreen has a bunch of real estate that isn't selling in its residential business. They want to do anything they can to get rid of their land.

Bluegreen does NOT exercise Right of First Refusal. They do the have right.

            False.

You can participate NOW in the AIM program. You can AIM in up to the number of qualified points you own per year. No need to make another purchase.

Why not throw in free limo service, free food stocked in the unit, massages, free airline tickets and a cruise every year. If they are going to make something up, may as well make it something really interesting.

              Thanks Jim,
I told the sales people that I was going to check out the validity of what they told me. You provide all of us with a valuable service: the truth

It's a program where you can deposit a non-BG resort for BG points. It costs $50 to deposit and there are several restrictions, like I think it has to be 12 months out. You have to call BG to get a form to fill out.

Boca probably knows more about it.

The other criteria is that it has to be RED time and either a Gold/Silver week with II/RCI.

This is a year to year program not a permanent solution to get out of your deed.

They were implying to the OP that they were going to expand the program to include other (non RED, non Gold/Silver) weeks as well.

I'm sure over time you will see a new premier level..............I have figured it would be called TITANIUM to match other timeshare resorts that already have that level. But who knows..............plus if they called it presidential, it would be confusing with the presidential units. But who am I to know anything?

As Boca said, at this point in time, it is pure speculation. Some salespeople will tell you that they will not be a part of the "rumor mill" at all when you ask them a question about something you know is up and coming, but will turn right around and will tell you something that you know has little to no validity. It's totally amazing. Especially, when we have even seen press releases about certain things.

I can't imagine that they would only bump the next level up 10,000 points, however, not when platinum is DOUBLE the points of gold. My thought has been that the next level upward would be at 100,000 points.

But if the only incentive is that the three free weeks could be used in any season, then maybe it would only require a minimal upgrade. It might be a great incentive for some, but wouldn't be for me.............my preference for SELF is off season anyway. PLUS you can't get wait listed for your free weeks, so the chance of you getting a GOOD high season week are going to not be very good anyway!

Just some thoughts on the what if of the most likely that the salesperson was just shooting the breeze anyway to try to make a sale.

The $1.80 per point pricing has been offered by BG for years - just takes one or two "no" answers for them to get there.

                            Aim

The sales rep had an entire sheet of all season, all levels for the "new" AIM. I guess I'll just call and find out if it is different than only gold/silver and red.

In May, I was told that this summer, the premium levels were being "closed", and no one would be able to get in....

                              go figure.
