I have been lurking here for a while.....this will be my first post.

We stayed in the Concierge level for the 'shakedown' weekend. Units are as advertised.....the kitchen would remind you of Long Creek kitchens (think stainless steel appliances--even drawer type dishwashers), but obviously on a smaller scale. Much better floor plan in the full 2BR unit in this building than the 1BR+studio lockouts (as you would expect). Walk in showers in both baths. Beamed ceilings, flat screen TV's. No view of the lake, but the view back up the cove was almost better, in my opinion.
As for the Presidential units, we got a tour of one of those as well. WOW! Vaulted ceilings give the units a much bigger feel than one floor below. 3D TV in family room (yes, they provide glasses). Kitchen is much the same but different colored granite (sort of a mauve/burgandy color) which really matched the black cabinetry. Appts in the kitchen were much nicer: small wine fridge, Panini press, waffle maker, and even an electric wine opener to go with stainless appliances (again, think of Long Creek).
MBR had a custom forged "canopy" bed, and fireplace.....both baths have wall mounted towel warmers, and heated floors to go with the walk in showers.
Decks for both the living area and the master BR, with a fireplace on the deck.
Then of course, the privacy of the pool area and hot tub------only thing I probably would have changed would have been to have the elevator go clear to the pool level, instead of having to leave the building at either end, and walk around to the pool gates.
These units were gorgeous and gracefully appointed......they are rightfully proud of them (as the point values will attest).
I agree with previous poster, my belief is that the pool area will continue to remain private. If you're going to use that many points then that's one of the perqs that you are entitled to.
We're still debating with ourselves just how often we'll want to spend the extra points........

      Midmo thanks

I've been waiting to hear from someone who had seen/stayed in one od these. Sounds like they were impressive.

      Thanks for the post.

        Shakedown weekend

        Midmo,
Was the shakedown weekend by invitation only? I keep hearing about these invitation only events, but I never get invited. Actually, I thought they were just another sales tactic or possibly a blatant lie. If anyone has been to one of these invitation only events, please share some details.

        Justine,
I agree about using points for The Cliffs at LC instead of BC, but I am too tight to spend that many points anyway. I would expect maid and butler service for that many points in that small of unit, maybe even a chef. We go to TC at LC on bonus time usually. Only one reservation there was on points, and it was only for 2 nights. That may change now that we have bought more points.

Speaking of Long Creek, since I haven't been over that way for awhile, have they done anything on the common amenities yet.

Speaking of peak peak, in these here parts school starts Mid Aug, thus peak ending at Week 32.

Branson slows down a bit then, some attractions and shows going on hiatus (Shoji, for instance, is off from Aug. 8 til Sept. 13).

Then Fall tour bus season begins, with everything changing to Christmas the first of November.

Roach---I don't think we were on the invite list either, but we had been watching closely (through some local contacts) when the rental inventory would be released to the call center for bookings (July 16 was the magic date)...and then we sorta volunteered to be a guinea pig the weekend prior. We didn't think the building was completely occupied---there seemed to be several employees (winners of drawings, perhaps?) who were there on various nights. We managed a four night stay out of it.

                  Yeah, I know that much.

We have already received a marketing mailing for it.

A local source told me he has a $400M line of credit for it.

Our experience/knowledge of/contact with PP goes back like 15 years.

What else do you know, JLB?

What's he going to do with the line of credit? The place looks pretty nice in the pics.

Is this to be part of Wilderness Club at Big Cedar (timeshare) or the Resort (non-timeshare)?

                    Anything on timing?

                      From the beginning . . .

Circa 20 years ago we used to vacation with friends on a lake in the spring. They invited us to spend time with them at a B & B called Red Bud Cove on the east side of Table Rock Lake. It is located on the north side of the finger of land that Big Cedar Cove and Big Cedar Lodge is on the south side of.

One visit there the folks at Red Bud Cove were concerned because whatever was going in next door was planning on building a wastewater treatment plant contiguous to their B & B, right next to where their rooms were (are). Well, that happened and it turned out to be Paradise Point.

As a development, PP was problematic and floundered from the git-go.

When we were house-shopping on Table Rock Lake in 1997, I placed a want-to-buy ad in the Branson paper. When we went to look at one of the houses that called us, it was a nice place smack in the middle of the PP development, which at that point was a wastewater treatment plant, one building, and a lot of empty land.

Eventually that house was purchased by PP development.

PP continued to flouder as a timeshare development and was taken over by a group that attempted to market it as a full-ownership, Christian-based, condo project.

                      That floundered.

I am now in a position where I run into a lot of local mover and shakers and am like a fly on the wall for many conversations. Not long ago I was told by someone what I posted above, that Johnny Morris had bought PP, got a huge line of credit, and was going to be developing it as timeshare.

Since it is even more convenient to Big Cedar than Long Creek and since Mr. Morris obviously has a strong committment to this area, that makes sense.

Then we received the marketing mailing, complete with the Bass Pro, Big Cedar, Bluegreen tie-ins.

There was a Bluegreen owner's breakfast from 8:30-10:30. It was at the picnic area of the new building. They had skewers of ham, tomatoes, peppers and onions and flatbread. They were supposed to have peach salsa and beverages, but only had water when we got there. I think there were more people showing up than they expected. They closed up about 10 and not 10:30 after running out of everything.

Pool area is very nice, but I am sticking to the cabin.

                          breakfast

                          Don,

I was there this morning also. You didn't miss much with the peach salsa. It was a little spicy, but not very peachy. I talked with a girl from the Cliffs that helped serve at the breakfast. This was the first breakfast they have had. They brought food to serve 100 more people than they thought would show up and still ran out early. When I left at 9:00, there were over 100 people in line or eating. It is nice for them to do this sort of thing for their owners and probably beneficial. While I was eating I spoke with several owners who just wanted to do more with their points. I did not bring up resale, but I pointed out what they could do with RCI and RCI Points. Several were ready to upgrade, and one had worn out her sampler and will be buying this week. I felt kind of like a salesman, but I just was answering questions. When I went through the line to get a plate for my wife, I did have a guy come ask me about Pinnacle. He was the only one that I spoke with at the table that knew anything about resale but was scared to make a resale purchase. You missed out on the other 2 beverages, apple and orange juice, but I missed out on the water. They did not have it put out when I was there. It was a pretty good grilled breakfast. I'll see you around Big Cheddar. We are headed the the Swimmin Hole Lawn for some family time.

I'm coming over to Branson Creek to golf with my buddy/ex-tugger tomorrow morning.

                            What time's lunch?

This may be what the line of credit is for, see page 4.

                                Pool

Anyone know if the pool for the presidential suites is heated and going to be open this fall? I just booked in October but may cancel if not. 15,000 points is alot of points to not have the benefit of private pool. We were there in June and it didn't look even complete yet but then I didn't go up close to the building either.
