Can anyone advise? In a true escrow on a home, you can back out of the deal during escrow at anytime, although you might lose any deposit you put up.
Can I still get out of this deal, since the escrow has not closed and therefore the deal has not actually been completed?

I noticed a recent Attorney General settlement with bluegreen in another state that perhaps can be used as leverage in this situation.
(Any sleazey timeshare salesmen, please fell free not to reply to me)

I don't know anything about escrow myself, but the timing you describe makes it sound like you'd be past the normal rescission period.
If you CAN rescind, I would do it immediately as you didn't get a good deal. If Bluegreen is right for you, you can definitely do better. I wonder from the name Caliguy if you live in California...and if you do, I would really question whether Bluegreen is the best fit for you.
I would suggest you repost in the bluegreen thread and see if any of the Bluegreen experts can help you regarding the escrow / rescission question.
