Hey! new to forum! About booking points

Wife and I are Gold members. Have 84,000 biennial. If we are on a waiting list for a full week at any resort, and once the room becomes officially booked, at what time can we cancel and try to book just the weekdays of that week, at the same resort so, as to save points? Has anyone tried this?

It's risky because they will have to put you week back into the system and then rebook the fewer days you want. Someone else could get the week you have.

When you put your request for the waitlist, just ask for the days that you want. They removed the requirement to book a full week a couple of years ago at 11 month window! The minimum is a two-night stay except at a few of the associate resorts which require a full week all the time.
