  • Fountains/RCI Disney Questions

We are planning a trip to Orlando there in about 18 months. Can someone help me with a few questions regarding The Fountains and RCI for Disney?

    1. When staying at the Fountains, how often does a Disney shuttle come by the resort?

    2. What times do the shuttles run, and how long does it take to get to the parks from the Fountains?

    3. I saw mention here about a Disney parking pass when staying at the Fountains. What do you need to do to obtain one?

4.What Disney resorts can be traded through RCI, how early can you contact them, and what is the difficulty of getting into a Disney resort this way?

    Thanks for your help.

The shuttles go 3 times in the AM, and 3 times in the PM. If I remember correctly, its 8 am, 9 am, and 10 am..then 7 pm, 8 pm and 9 pm pick up. You need to reserve your spot 24 hours in advance.

The shuttle only goes to/picks up from Epcot. Its around 15 min. From Epcot, you can catch Disney transport to the other parks.

      Thanks for your help.
You can reserve a week and deposit it with the RCI weeks side and hope that you have enough trading power to pull a DVC weeks deposit.

Or if you have Travelers Plus nightly stays, you can use your Bluegreen points to directly book a DVC week in the RCI points inventory. It's 9000 Bluegreen points for a studio and 11000 points for a 1 bedroom plus the transaction and resort fee. You can reserve up to 10 months in the future.

I can't see the weeks inventory, but one of the forum members stated that he only sees two DVC units. You can search the points inventory without making any kind of deposit, and right now there are only 2 units there as well. A couple of weeks ago there were 30-50 in each inventory, and I guess it goes up and down every few weeks.

It seems pretty random as far as what is available when, but the only DVC resorts I have seen in RCI are:

      Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas (#DV01)
      Disney's Beach Club Villas (#DV02)
      Disney's Boardwalk Villas (#DV03)
Disney's Old Key West Resort (#DV05)
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa (#DV06)
The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge (#DV08)

You do get to park free, but you pay a $95 resort fee. Cheaper to park.

You can use the Disney transport and have a lot of freedom to come and go, even dividing up your group. We always found the waits to be fairly long at peak times, so we usually drove our car instead.

The Beach Club Villas are walking distance to Epcot, but hard to get.

If you can use a smaller unit and go off times, your chances are better with any of these resorts.

            You do not get to enter into any of the Parks for free. You must purchase tickets for the parks, regardless of whether you own or trade into DVC. The reason that people trade into DVC are many. Among them are: (1) free shuttles and/or monorails to the parks; (2) excellent theming at the resorts;
            (3) use of extra magic hours (an additional hour in the morning or up to 3 hours in the evening for the exclusive use of the resort and hotel guests staying on WDW property) (4) free transportation (magical express) to the WDW resorts and hotels (5) ability to use the Disney Dining Plan.

The main reason is because then you are at WDW full time from the moment you get on the Expressway with magical express until you arrive back at the airport for departure.

Certainly, there are more luxurious resorts in Orlando than the DVC resorts. There are some great pools at some of the DVC resorts, but even better pools offsite.

Those are some of the reasons for staying at DVC.

              The Disney Meal Plan

Once you have booked a Disney Resort via RCI, how do add on the meal plan? How do you add on other things like the princess breakfast?

The breakfast you will have to call Disney and reserve. Not sure about the meal plan. I'd call and ask.

To add the Disney Dining Plan and make dining reservations you would call DVC Member Services; do not call RCI.
