My family and I are getting ready for a last-minute trip to Vegas on Wednesday. We will be staying in a 1 BR unit at Club 36. Unfortunately, there was no availability in any other units. I plan to call tomorrow to see if a free upgrade is available, but since there are no units on the reservations page, I am not hopeful. This will be our first stay at Club 36. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to bring or do, that might be overlooked?

We were there in early May. We had a one bedroom deluxe on the third floor...very nice. Do rent a car with AC. Taxis are expensive and parking around the strip is plentiful and free. Allow yourself three hours to return the car and get through the terminal. The rental agencies are all off site and the security lines in the terminal can be long. Do not try to walk to the MGM Grand in the summer heat. It is further than you think in 100+ temperatures.
Do.....
Check out the eateries on site - Grindburger and the pizza place.
See a Cirques show.....KA, Mystere, etc.
Go to Fremont Street....the old Las Vegas
Enjoy a gondola ride at the Venetian
See the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam (check with activities director on-site for info)
Enjoy the free 'from the sidewalk shows'....Bellagio, Treaure Island, etc.
Just walk around and enjoy...such as the lions at the MGM Grand
Don't forget to put a dollar or two on the gambling table or slot to keep the whole thing going (believe it or not...our big winnings came on a penny slot...a $5.21 profit)

If you like to hike, there Red Rock Canyon is just outside the city. We did a guided tour with a gentleman named Neil Sobelson with "Hike This!". Here's a link to their website: http://www.hikethislasvegas.com/your_guide.htm It was an amazing experience. If you are looking to stay on the strip, we love New York, New York's restaurants and piano bar. We love the Sunday champagne brunch at the Mirage. Cheap gambling at O'Sheas Casino between The Flamingo and Harrah's. Hope this helps.

Visited Club 36 in June
Hi! We were at Club 36 at the end of June. The room we stayed in was a 1 BR unit. It was just my husband and I so we had plently of room. We thought the room was very nice--had all the amenities of home. There was a very nice, large walk-in shower and also a separate tub/shower. The bed was very comfortable. We did walk from Club 36 to MGM Grand and didn't think it was too bad of a walk, although you do have to cross an empty lot that looks a little sketchy. We did walk this at night and it was lit, so we didn't really feel unsafe. Club 36 does have a shuttle to take you to MGM Grand, but it doesn't run after 8:00 pm which is little odd in Vegas. They have a nice indoor pool with an outside deck area attached to it. We enjoyed our stay and thought the accomodations were very nice.

Thanks everyone. We just got back from our week long trip. We stayed in the 1 BR standard, which is a little small. The pool area was nice, but the bar (Amelias) didn't seem to be open much, and the hours were not posted. We will definitely book far enough in advance to get the deluxe room next time, although we may try the Shell place out instead. I do hope they are able to lease the remaining retail space. The Grind was good, but a little pricey. The bagel shop and ABC store were great picks, but some additional eateries and perhaps a day spa would be a great addition.
