  • Just got my member number - some questions

In Saturdays mail, I received a Maint. Fee bill with a zero balance - but it also contained my member number (and contract numbers). With this info I was able to log into the bluegreen website and start clicking around.

I saw that my next earn date is 7/1/2011 - and Boca has told me if I prepay my fees I can "borrow" these 7/1/11-6/30/12 points to use now if I like. I had 'picked' 5/1 as my earn date but 7/1 works just as well.

Question - I called BG today to inquire about my RCI account - they said it takes about 6 weeks to get and to call back at the end of August if I have not received info in the mail. Has anyone else had this experience? Does RCI membership info just show up in the mail? And once I get the RCI account, it seems I have to call and request a BGVC RCI Points account - I am (should be) a member of Traveler Plus.

Question - What else besides the maint. fee bill I received should I expect to receive from BGVC? A deed? My points are based in Myrtle Beach and I do not see a deed recorded in Horry County....so I am a little perplexed.
What should come in the mail welcoming me to the family ???

You will get billed for club dues which are $129 a year. I think they get billed in Jan. This includes your BG RCI weeks account (no you cannot get a refund if you already have one).

It may take some time for your name to be recorded in the county where you own.

        Pat,
I called for my BG/RCI points membership number, I don't recall receiving one in the mail, but that was when it first started, so I may have received it and forgot about it.
RCI was very helpful setting it up and it only took a few minutes because all of my info had been sent to RCI by BG.

          Pat,
The RCI Weeks account should be automatic and will probably take some time for them to do it. However, you shouldn't have to wait to set up your RCI Points account since you do most of the work. Log into BG and follow their instructions.

If you own BG Points, the deed is held by the BG Vacation Club Trustee and not by you. The recorded deed will not be in your name and BG won't be in a hurry to record it.

The deed is recorded in the name of the Trust. Therefore, it's just a database entry to change name of the ownership. Huge amount of paperwork is required for such a simple name change.

I am hoping that I will get a NEW RCI weeks account assocoiated with BGVC - my current one has my DH's name as the "lead" and my BGVC account has me as the primary owner so I am hoping RCI doesn't "notice" this .
Once my new account is set up, I will deposit my current ownerships into THAT account and cancel the old account (and get a refund) next Sept when the last exchange is finished.

Thanks, but I believe I have to have a week account FIRST before I can set up the point account, no? I will log in and check how to do this.

              Ahhhh, gotcha!
But should I still get something in the mail from BG welcoming me as an owner? It is only because I received a (non) maint fee bill that I even knew I was an owner.

Okay, I will wait a few more weeks - when I called on Tuesday, they said it takes 4-6 weeks to get the account set up.
