How do I take advantage of "wait list" benefits?

We're bronze level, so we should be able to wait list a month before the 11 month reservation window.

However, if I try to book a reservation just under 12 months out, it tells me that the start date is more than 11 months out.

How do I take advantage of the wait list?

Call in and ask to be put on the wait list. No way to do it online

You need to call the 800 reservation number and tell them you want to be put on the wait list for a particular type of unit. For Bronze, you can get on the wait starting at 12 months before the check-in date. You can give them a secondary option for a different type of unit if your first choice is not available.

A day or two before the 11 month window opens for each date, they go through the wait list and book rooms in the order you joined the wait list. Platinum members can get on the list at 15 months, so it's possible that by the time they get to you the prime units may be all taken.

You need to have your points available in your account to make the reservation at 11 months, which usually means you need to borrow points from next year for high red reservations.

Several people have said that it is a good idea to call back a few days after getting on the wait list to confirm that they entered it correctly. If your wait list request is too complicated, they don't understand it, or you don't have the points, it's possible that they will just skip you and move on the the next name when they start booking the wait list.

Usually you can check your account the day before the 11 month window opens to see if you got what your were looking for.
