  • Rent out a Blue/White Season Unit

As a Bluegreen Gold Premier member I get one free stay in a blue or white season. I want to book it and rent it out. I have never rented out my points. However, I think I want to do this now to defray some of my costs. Where do I start?

    Penalty Flag

You are not supposed to rent out your "Free Week". The BG Premiere Benefits Booklet you get when you upgrade through BG states that these cannot be rented, but you can allow guests to stay. The consequences for commercial renting of a free week is loss of the "free week" privilege. Sorry to bust your bubble. I thought I would do the same thing until I got the booklet. There was some discussion about using these units for deposit with RCI quite a while back. I believe someone said they had done this and made pretty good exchanges. So this may give you another option. You might also do a private exchange or use another exchange company.

Do you have to use the "free week" for premier owners in the points year in which it was awarded, or can you carry over the certificate into the next year?

        Free Week Rules

Certificates for free weeks must be used within a 12 month period from the date of issue. Unused certificates will not be extended. This is from the Premier Member Booklet. Hope it helps.

Thanks Mark. The web site information is a little different and confusing. It states that travel must be completed within 12 months of the anniversary date. Then the certificate itself states that "Travel must be completed within 12 months of the above Anniversary Date". My anniversary date shown (above) on my certificate is 12:00:00 AM ???? It also states that; (3) "For the purposes of this certificate only, your anniversary date is based on your Club Dues billing month". Guess I will find out for sure when I try to redeem it or download another. Thanks again for your help.

            Downloading Certificates

I am new to using free certificates too. I downloaded 3 certificates to use for free weeks, but they all had the same information. They even had the same certificate number and promo code. Is this normal?

I may be in a special situation due to upgrading the first week of June and switching from several different anniversary dates to November. Mine also have the same expiration date and print date at the top, "Printed 6-12-2010 Good until June 2011. 3 more will be available November 1, 2010". Does yours have anything like this at the top? Can I make reservations now to use the next 3 certificates as long as the reservations have check in dates after November 1, 2010?
