Select Connections Booking Experience

I just booked a week at the Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy through Select Connections. Since BG members can only reserve 8 months out, I thought trying to book right at that point would offer the best chance. I called the other day asking for time in April, but was told there was none. The BG rep said it was still early and inventory may drop later, although she did find inventory on Waikiki. I called later and asked about March and got the first dates I asked for. I suppose Shell is just maximizing inventory for their members. Overall, I still thought the process was pretty painless, but I wish there was an online option similar to booking BG resorts.

Select Connections

Do you have to be VIP or any other status to use the select connections feature? Not trying to hijack the thread, thanks for the help

You need to have Traveler Plus which requires any purchase of qualified points.

As usual, Jim hit it exactly. You have to be eligible for Traveler Plus by making a qualified purchase sometime after 2006 (I think). You then have to pay around $59 per year for Traveler Plus membership which gives you Select Connections, Hot Weeks, RCI nightly stays, and a few of others. On top of that there is a fee to make a Select Connections reservation. I think I paid $39. I live in Colorado, so having access to the Shell locations in the Western US makes it worthwhile to us.

Select Connections works surprisingly well. I thought it would be limited in terms of availability and it hasn't been to the places I wanted to go.

I own shell Hawaii and there currently is availability for every week in April for studio one and two bedroom garden views - No Ocean views. They must wait a bit to release it to the select connections.

I would think that April would have lower demand than march. We went in May this year and stayed 3 days on the front and 3 days on the back of another week and were upgraded from a one bedroom to a 2 bedroom each time.
