  • Owners Update at Pono Kai

We will be staying at the Select Connections Beachboy resort in HI in March, and I would be interested in seeing the Bluegreen resort on the island so that we can decide which we would rather stay at in the future. Does anyone know of a mechanism in place to do this? I was thinking of calling and asking for an owners update at Pono Kai, but I do not know if it is simply an office update or if they show an example room. I also do not know if I can do one since I will not be staying on the property. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Hi,
they do not do an owners update at Pono Kai (we were there in July). The timeshare presentation they ask you to attend is in fact at the Shell resort.
I am sure if you pop over to Pono Kai and tell them you are a BG owner they will let you have a look around.
It is a very nice resort and very well maintained it is around 30 yrs old .We had a unit overlooking the pool (H205) and found it to be very private and not overlooked also we did not have any bother with noise which seemed to be the main complaint on tripadvisor.

      Phillip,
Thanks for the info. I can't believe BG has a resort where they don't do owner updates. We will definitely drive through Pono Kai to get a look at the place. When you were there, did you think the rooms felt 30 years old, or had they been updated similar to other BG properties?

      Thanks

The way to see a unit or 2 is to arrive around 1pm

On Wednesday or Saturday, these are the 2 check in/out days. The front desk will let you see an cleaned unit, if you ask nicely.

There are 5 assorted unit types. The smallest is the Studio sleep 2 then the Mini 1 Bedroom with a partial kitchen. Both of these types are only in building K.

Then there are the Imperial ( regular 1 bedrooms) and the Presidential ( 2 bedrooms) and the end unit 2 bedrooms ( also Presidential) these are in all the other buildings.
There are lofted 1 and 2 bedroom units scattered among the buildings. I have a list if you are interested.

The Ocean front units are in buildings A-D, with ocean view in F,G, and some in E.

The trip adviser reviews mostly include the wholly owned rental units, that reside within the resort, but aren't a part of the timeshares. These are widely diverse in how they are maintained, some have never been upgraded, many of these have no A/C and the back bedroom 1 bedroom suites will hear parking lot sounds with their windows open.

        Fwiw,
        Greg

          Hi again,
It is not owned by BG but managed by them so there are no salespeople
the units are Ok they have been updated the kitchen was fairly new so were the funishings and it had been redecorated recently, the bathroom was a little dated but had been updated sometime within the 30 yrs lol.
All in all it was a very nice resort and unit and we would love to go back even if it is around 10000 miles from home
