  • Review: South Mountain Resort, Lincoln, NH

My wife and I are in the middle of a 9 day stay here. So far everything has been great! We are in a one bedroom unit on the second floor that overlooks the outdoor pool. The view of the mountains from our balcony is breathtaking! While the fall colors are winding down now, it has been a magnificent week. The room is perfect with two full bathrooms and a jacouzi in the bedroom, two TV's, and an electric fireplace in the living room. Very clean, updated, with a helpful and friendly staff. The resort is located in the heart of the White Mountains with lots to do and see nearby. Very charming restaurants. Close to Boston, Vermont, Maine and the coast.
B/G took over management of this resort in April of this year and the staff is not completely up to speed on B/G procedures, etc. No owner update, or sales department here (if that's an issue for you).
Downside: No on-site laundry facilities and the local laundramat is not great to say the least! B/G really needs to address this issue. Second, there seems to be a excessive amount of floor to floor noise. But this is a problem only if you have inconsiderate guests in the room above yours.
Overall, based on our experience here, I can highly recommend this resort to anyone wishing a pleasant stay in the New England area.

Bummer on the laundry situation. A well-supplied kitchen and a washer and dryer in the room are both in our top five gotta-haves list.

Thanks muchly for the review, and glad you're enjoying yourselves!

We stay at this resort 1-2 times a year. It is now our favorite II resort in the Lincoln area. Why.....the location. Walk to restaurants, shopping, movie theatre, grocery, mini golf, hobo railroad, zip lines, etc. The rooms are very nice and spacious and the inside pool and outside pool can all be accessed via the building (very nice in the winter - no need to leave your building in 20 degree temps to get to the pool!)

The laundry is a bummer - I mention it to the desk every time we visit. You can go up to Pollard Brook and use their laundry room which I have done. But, that is not the greatest - little room in a basement with one washer and dryer is all I could find there.

If they let you use Pollard Brook, we stayed in Jackman Brook Lodge and it had a laundry room on the 4th floor that had 2 washers and dryers. It costs $1.00 a load and they don't have a change machine so bring coins.
Although it is a keyed entry building it was open all the time we were there.
The door doesn't latch shut so it seems that you can get into the building without a problem.

I would hope they don't let South Mountain guests use Pollard Brook facilities. Shenanigans involving the two were one of the reasons many of us PB owners got upset about the PB assessment.

South Mountain is now affiliated with Bluegreen. Pollard Brook is affiliated with VRI. Different management companies, different timeshare owner bases, different facilities. Whatever connection Dennis Ducharme has with Bluegreen is his own personal business.

When we were at South Mountain at the end of August (ownership change was already done) it was as it has always been between the two resorts.

            1. When I went to use laundry I needed a card key - they gave me one for access to laundry, pools, etc.
            2. Activities were still done jointly. 1 flyer listing all at PB and SM.
            3. I even needed an internet bridge. SM was out - I went up to PB and rented from them.

So you proved my point. Your post illustrates why PB owners are so upset with Dennis and his shenanigans. Apparently, we float his boat and South Mountain. There should be no connection between the two resorts. None.
