  • New RCI Set up

The write-up on the annual meeting I got with our bill says:

late 2010, all Club owners will be able to search, view and book available inventory at RCI affiliated resorts online with Bluegreen Vacation Points. The deposit and banking process has been eliminated to make it easier and faster for owners to exchange.
    (Their underline)

Have to see how it actually pans out, but that makes it sound like we'll be able to search BEFORE depositing.

It will also be interesting to see if UK owners will be able to use it.
RCI europe works differently than in the US

"The deposit and banking process has been eliminated to make it easier and faster for owners to exchange."

This may (and probably will) eliminate the ability to trade up using a low point deposit. This will help the average member but greatly reduces the value the BGVC for the experienced owner.

I think it is a "will". We spend all that time learning the system and those who don't will now benefit. http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...milies/cry.gif

Agreed. But that I already knew from Jim's report on the Annual Meeting, and there's nothing I can do about it, so I'm trying to find something good about the changes.

Not sure what that means. Do you think we won't be able to bank our points for 2 years anymore? That won't be an improvement for people trying to extend usage or prevent expiration. I guess we will have to wait and see.

You can bank them with any other exchange company like SFX, TPI, HTSE, DAE, II and more.

                  Jim,
I am only slightly familiar with RCI, and have heard of II, but none of the rest...is there a FAQ or good resource on those of us that haven't used exchanges much that could get us up to speed?

                  Thanks
                  Greg

                    Greg,

You might start with the subforum on this site.

                    http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...opportunities/

I don't know much about any of them but I do knot that not all BG resorts trade with Interval International - the TUG reviews link to the II site as well as RCIs and that will give you some info on which ones do. I know someone here swears by DAE, hopefully they'll chime in.

The key to using and liking the smaller exchange companies is understanding how they function and what/where their strengths are. As with any exchange request, the further out you request and the more open your dates and areas are the more likely you are to get a match.

The exchange opportunity forum is a goood place to start to get a feel for specialization as well as taking advantage of actually asking representatives of the exchange companies questions. It is preferred that you take account specific questions to them in PM and ask broader questions on the forums.

Also ask us. We'll be happy to share our experiences.
